    then I did every thing right I removed the old patch files (4.08) from other folders it still cant do it

    Now check again what the properties of the shortcut you have to start the game.
    Copy/Paste the command line contents here...

    What OS are you using? Vista?

    Try this, extract the patch to a folder on your desktop, then open that folder and your 1946 folder, then just select and drag all the files from the patch folder into your game folder and select to overwrite/replace.

    When you copied over the files did it ask you to overwrite or merge the files/folders? If it did what did you click on?

    That's weird. All the patch is are files to replace the files in the game folder, there is no exe to edit code or anything like that, it's simple file replacement. If you replace the 4.07 files with the 4.08 files there is no way that it will not load 4.08. I suspect that either you have the dedicated server patch (which would not do anything for the game, it is only for dedicated server installs) or there are two copies of il2 on your pc and you are patching the wrong one.

    I have a D: and a C: drive I use my D: to games and my C: to data but I have IL2 on C also.
    but it cannot run if I press it only on D: but I have it 2 places
