Can anyone help or explain why I cannot load the 1.4b patch. I have the EMEA DVD and have downloaded the EMEA DVD version of patch 1.4b but I keep getting a message the the version is wrong ? Any help would be most welcome

I get a file name followed by the words: unknown version. Whats up with that. No mods installed either.

it due to changeing 1 or more files..you may have changed a config file..this would make it a diff version..

That's right, go back and undo your mods back to the original files. You should then be able to patch up to 1.4 with no problem.

I had the same problem today.I even did a fresh install and still had the "menu\de_menu.txt:unknown version" warning. After pulling my hair out for a few hours I downloaded the patch from Gamespot ( I dl the first from Ubisoft, the US dvd version). The patch from gamespot worked just fine. Now I just have to put all the mods back in again.

There are no mods as I had uninstalled the game a couple of weeks ago and just reinstalled and went to use new patch before trying the game

Search The Community Manual for "reinstall". When you uninstalled a few weeks ago, did you manually delete all residual folders and files? If not that's your problem.

It would be nice if more of you promoted The Community Manual in your forum sigs. More people would be aware of it and frequently asked questions would be less frequent.

Suggested sig line (copy & paste):

[color:yellow]Have a question? Check first in The SH3 Community Manual to see if it's already been answered.[/color]

That will look like this in your sig:

Have a question? Check first in The SH3 Community Manual to see if it's already been answered.

So if I do an uninstall and manually delete all the associated files, is there a way I can save my current campaign? I just moved to France, and don't want to have to do all the tutorials again, then another 1.5 yrs. on patrol to get to a sweet start location!
