For all the Battlestar Galactica Fans

It seems a little arcadish but still very fun!!

I really wish someone made some realistic space combat sim acording to the laws of physics.
One thing that I like about the Battlestar Galactica TV Show is that the Vipers seems to move like an space ship should.

Check out the game features and poke around the forum a bit, I think you might be pleasently surprised.

Been meaning to buy it, but I think I'm going to wait for the next installment, Gathering Storm. Its supposed to have updated graphics/physics plus trackir support.

Looks pretty good, BSG and Starshatter but I've yet to finish building my empire in X2 so I can't buy another space sim.
BSG is a great show, I really liked the episode "Scar" when Starbuck gives a rant about boom n' zoom tactics being the best way to win a war.

    Did u ever play I-WAR?

Best darn sci fi game ever
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I-War_(Independence_War)

"I-War was different from most other space combat games in that player commanded a big, 162 meter long corvette named the Dreadnaught, and because the space ships flew according to Newton's laws of motion. In other words, the flight model took into account inertia caused by a ship's mass and the absence of drag in outer space. In addition to common flight dynamics, the vessels could move and accelerate in all directions: up, down, forward, backwards and sideways. The piloting was however considerably eased thanks to a simulated flight computer with autopilot modes and an assisted flight mode.

    "

there was a sequel release a few years later, pretty cool, but I-war (the first) is in my opinion unbeatable.

Orheim, I liked both I-War's, too. I keep hoping in vain for another installment. They didn't do too well here in the 'States, but I keep hoping European sales were good enough to justify I-War3.

In the meantime, that BSG trailer looked pretty good. I like the series (though the new season has started with the series signature of "Let's start half a dozen plot threads all at once and give the audience headaches keeping track of all of them."... hand me the Tylenol) Of course playing it means scrounging up a copy of Freespace 2 and figuring out how to play that first.

They have a really great in-development video of that MOD after that video was made. They have Vipers flying around in the asteroid belt from Scar. With smoke trails caused by the fine particles and all.

That trailer is ancient, I think that's using all the Alpha stuff.

We're now up to beta and going to release a demo hopefully by the end of the month.
This is the more recent video of our multiplayer test:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=unqGrLcKUcI

(I'm part of the team, what's why I keep saying "we" and "our" )

And although I would suggest playing Freespace 2 anyway, because it's such an awesome game, you won't need it for the mod - it will be a completely standalone download. You can actually get Freespace 2 though, because the source code was released and it's now abandonware. Here is a popular site to download the CDs from: www.freespacezone.com. You can also get a smaller version at Home of the Underdogs, but it's missing some things

Oh, and please do stop by the mod forums:
    http://www.game-warden.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=36

Or the main FS2 community forums:
    http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php

I hang around here though, so I can answer any questions you may have
