Starforce is in the registry. There is a few ways to reset the starforce back to zero. If you had a backup of your registry thats one way. If you format your pc that surely is another way. If you know regedit well you can hunt down starforce and delete the keys. Ive did similar to Battlefield 1942 when Punkbuster gave me a problem. I had to reinstall battlefield but it gave me an error said incorrect version because the patch I needed to install had punkbuster on it and it was an old patch. I deleted the version # in the registry to get around it. There is always a way. I will loook more into an easier way to help you all install SHIII without further problem. It installed for me first try. I had a fresh drive with a fresh windows XP pro installed on it so maybe the problems you all are having maybe "spyware" or your dvd drive possibly isnt the best. I will post a topic of who has been successful with their SHIII and what DVD drive their using in the Help area of the forum.

we shouldn't have to do that..SF installs itself ILLEGALLY....and its not in the EULA...which makes it get ready....ILLEGAL...is UBI blind to that fact that in the US that its ILLEGAL to install a software with a program you just bought without giving the customer notice its doing so?

perhaps taskforce is a mod? mods can edit things... and if he is i want an answer to this question: IF I buy SHIII (I have an excellent pc more memory on that bugger then there is in an entire futureshop store and its also brand new) it will work and that deal with the 5 installs max bs wont happen correct?

you will be ok Drake...a couple people have proven its not on the dvd version..but a couple other people have done it on the digital download of it...the direct to drive stuff..and its in that version..the direct to driver version that is...

no worries mate on the dvd version

its the illegal starforce **** that i am still trying to figure out...i have a copy of SHIII sitting here..and refuse to install it until i get answeres..i just posted in the other thread area..the help area..and SF guy tried saying that SF doesn't cause problems with drives...i sat here laughing for about five min over that one

If TaskForce IS a moderator here, it's news that's not been reported. He wasn't a mod during the last 10 months.

have to agree..if hes been moved up to mod...its a new thing

also....i can gaurantee i have no virus's or spyware on my system..as i run two anti virus programs..and several spyware programs

also..i don't even have the game installed..why?...because UBI refuses to comment on the fact that SF is ILLEGALLY installed on your system without consent..or any kind of notification in the EULA..and until UBI answers questions put forth by me...i refuse to use my copy for more then a coaster at the computer
