Well,
IF this game limits the number of installs (like MS windows) I am canceling my order. I can understand a publisher wanting to protect their creation however I will not put up with the same **** that MS uses for their OS

wow.....
this is an amazing piss off... i mean if i am going to buy the game i want to be able to install uninstall it as many times as i want shouldnt i? would you buy a couch knowing you were only allowed to move it to 5 different spots in your house? or a car knowing you could only repair it 5 times? whats with the limits sure i understand ubi wanting to protect their software but ya know what allthis does is hurt the basic gamers... i mean duh your pro hackers will have starforce in shreds before they can blink its the ones that know how to play the game but no more (and those ones are not the ones who are going to secretly try to mass produce bootlegs) duh... im really wondering if i want to get this game now mmm mmm mmm yea this really is not good I HOPE SOMEONE AT UBI IS READING THIS your about to lose a fair amount of business... which would you developers rather hurting people who cant start a problem to begin with or pissing them off before hand so they dont buy your products.... there is no safe that can be cracked all it does it make it harder for the people who need it to get in....

I installed on 3 different computers, all of which were offline during installation, and it works perfecly fine, no MS activation type stuff, though I don't understand why people hate that so much.

it only takes effect when you change hardware..how hard is that to understand?..once you change your hardwares config...like vid cards...sound cards...it detects any change in the system..and puts that in a database sent to starforce once you go back online....and once you hit the 5 time install on it...it freaks and won't let you install again.....hell its even been posted on Ebgames site as well about SHIII having this

it seems computer games are going the way of the car back 30 years or so a car was simple it ran but then they had to add environmental controls and etc etc etc now cars are so complex so full of itty bitty parts that can go wrong that if you sneeze wrong it wont start dont even try to imagine fixing it i think computer games are going the same way soon there will be so many "hacker proof" (i use the term lightly) protocals that games will be IMPOSSIBLE to install or use i say developers should sit down and decide which is more important making the game run and run well for the people who want to use it and concider the bootlegs being a business expense (again might i add that no matter how strong your "starforce" might be your pro hacker can slice it into bits no problem) or they have to decide its more important to protect their games thus making it impossible for gamers to play... a double edged sword i admit but they have to decide which edge to grab and soon...

CoolHand20th, you seem to be incorrect.
First of all SH3 uses Starforce Professional/Basic 3.0 protection and not Starforce ProActive 1.1. If you actually look at some dlls in the SH3 folder and check their attributes it will say Starforce PROTECTION 3.04 and not Proactive 1.1.

And you know such a great thing as a firewall?
You know, you can block that all unwanted traffic, like one done by StarForce...
