Alieneddiexxx, I'm very sorry to read that you've been mocked, especially when asking for help... as far as I've seen (and as many others have pointed out), there are plenty of kind and helpful people around here...

At least, all the "core" members (some of them have already posted here, but there are still many others around) have always been kind and helpful, and that's why I like this community so much.

Anyway, I'm sorry that you're experiencing issues and CTDs... I dunno what's your system specs, but bear in mind that very often "minimum requirements" shouldn't be trusted very much: this is true for almost every PC games, and SH4 is surely no exception.

Just to give you an example, personally I've got quite a powerful rig, that allows me to play SH4 with full details activated... but in crowded situations (big task forces, or some instant missions where JAP and USA TFs fight), while watching the action from external camera, I still experience slow downs.

It was lane's suggestion, but you did it backwards. Don't change your computer setting, change the game settings to match your 60Hz computer. Try this, set your computer to 1250 x 1024, 60Hz, then go to the settings in the game and do the same. Don't forget to "Apply Changes" then EXIT the game and the bring it up again and try it.

We are getting close to solving this, I think.
Thanks dgrayson,I re-read Lanes refresh rate suggestion carefully and now see what you mean.
I must be dyslexic, but thats ok so was Patton, and look what he fixed, lol!

    I will try that now.
Question is will that solve my wont load saved game problem?
Should I be able to load my saved game from earlier today, even though I had the monitor settings backwards, or start a new patrol after I correct them?
I'll change and correct the monitor settings, try the reload of my save, if no work, I'll start a new career, wish me luck.

I think the crew is ready to mutiny, as so far we're not in the water long enough to sink anything, lol.

BTW I think the first CTD problem is fixed, dont qoute me yet but the game played over two hours no problems, no crashes, it never lasted that long before.
This latest CTD problem happened when I tried to load my saved game from today.

    Cheers & thanks Sub_Boy

One other question for dgrayson or any one who cares to answer.

I know that you want me to have the game and monitor to match at 60hz, but does it matter what resolution I set it at or prefer as long as they match as well, as the game does offer multiple resolution settings.
I'm not sure wether to take the resolution setting you suggested as the gospel or not for this game.
I'm trying to increase system performance, and keep it happy.

Sub_Boy....as long as the resolution and Hz match between monitor, and graphics card, it shouldn't matter.

It shouldn't, but in my case it did. Found out when my original card smoked and I got the GF8600. With my Nvidea set to 75Hz along with the game, my stubborn PC crashed SHIV so often I had to wear a helmet. Changed them both back to 60Hz and haven't had a crash since.

You are using the TTM Mod. There are features in that MOD, from ROW, that work best at a resolution of 1250 x 1024. That is why I choose that. Try anything you like. The goal is to get it to work properly.

Excuse me while I go sink something. I feel the need.

    Thanks for the replies.

I now have monitor & game matched at 1024x768 at 60 hz.

Funny thing though, I performed 2 saves after leaving port earlier today, the game will load the first one about half way to mission goal (star) but won't load the second one saved just as approaching the goal, it CTD. wierd.
Tried to load the second save more than once after correcting monitor refresh rate mistake, no go.

.....Also, (and I never said this) I strongly suspect that the stated "Minimum Specifications" are, as published, somewhat TOO low. (No software company wants to blow away sales by setting the "minimums" too high!)

    klcarroll[/QUOTE]

No offence Kicarroll, I understand what your saying here(above), but I really, really hope you don't agree with it, misleading the consumer for the sake of sales, and profit.

Also as far as your closing comments on the "low post " people, well to put it bluntly, I'm one of them, and its not for lack of love for the game, I cherish the moment when the game runs fine, I just hate when it dies, and the lack of ability to play it.

I am not speaking for all the other "low post people", just myself here, but ask yourself honestly whats the point of spending endless hours typing away on a forum which is dedicated to a game you cant get to work, even with help from yourself, and others.

In reality i have spent more time on this forum asking you fine people for help than playing the game.
But if I were to hazard a guess why the other "unproductive low posters" are absent its probably because they given up on this game and moved on to somthing else, like going for walk, or a bike ride, who knows, who cares.
After all its only a game.
    Any retorts?

    Cheers Sub_Boy

Thanks for trying to help, but my board has 3 slots for memory and they are all 512's. Also, they are not bad, because I have replaced them all. Used to run with just 2 512 sticks, trashed them and replaced with 3 new ones. Have tried everything suggested, nothing helps. Like I have said, not a single problem in game, just with loads. That tells me something is corrupting the save files.

Thanks to all for the sentiments, no one has directly mocked me in my posts, but I see other ones mocking others who post issues. And, I started another new career 2 days ago (wanted to try again, was missing the game after a few weeks) and guess what...CTD when loading! Have to live with it I guess until I can convince the woman to let me get the new alienware I want!

Wow, I never heard of a computer with three slots, thought all computers either had two, or four and ram had to run in pairs only.....interesting.
