Kegety has found a couple of major fixes for COD in its present form. It jumped my fps from 60 to 102 in the same quick mission at 1920X1200

Wow. Just sat down with my morning coffee to see this!

Kegetys is the fellow that originally made the SFS extractor that kicked off the whole Il-2 modding frenzy. There are some things under the hood that I'm pretty keen to change if this extractor works in a similar manner. The 109 weathering layer for one.

Why didn't this come from 1C?

I just about doubled my frame rates with this. No more stutters over land, I'm getting 25 fps flying low around London A/C model set to high, the rest a mix of medium and low settings, grass, roads and shadows on. That is amazing, last night with everything possible set to low I was getting a stuttering 5fps.

It now plays smoothly everywhere I've tested it so far, no stops, I can deal with many planes in the air just fine. If I turn the cockpit off over water, my fr approaches 75 fps, 55 with it on, and that is after turning a few settings back up. Everything looks fantastic.

Now if they can enable crossfire, I'll be stylin'.

Probably because this guy is taking the no nonsense approach to optimizing, which is to simply dump everything out of the game that gives the issues.

Developers don't do those kind of things.

Thank god DRM was removed, at least if I mess up my install with this it won't cost me an activation.

Hahaha, just tried it out and it's really amazing. No more stutters over land, only trees still eat performance for me so those are off. Everything else on high and it's supersmooth.

I'm curious to see what happens to this thread tomorrow...mods & hacks (?) it feels like a "gray area"...but I appreciate the sentiment.

I was able to extract the weathering and panel layers for the 109 and posted them in the skinning forum for people to use as reference.
