    With the number of post on the subject, on just the first page, I think support knows. I ask on the forum questions I'd like answered on the forums; usually, someones knows and shares faster than any support. Especially on
    Super Ball Sunday.

    Thanks Black_Widow9. I am waiting for reply from Ubisoft. Too frustrating to play this game until a fix. Steam AC2 forums are reporting widespread problems with saves too.

    Well, here is Ubisoft's Official reply to the failure to save problem

    In order to respond to this email, please update this incident by clicking on the "Update Question" Button at the bottom of this page (Please do not create a new incident).

    If your it is only on save game file that has been corrupted you may be able to recover your save game file using the solution below:

    I'm afraid that isn't an answer Ubisoft.
    I have re-sent the issue with excruciating detail this time. I have also sent links to posts on these forums and to Steam AC2 forums.

    This game is too good to suffer crappy bugs like this.
    Meanwhile, keep an eye on that animated diamond. If she stays up, it's time to quit to windows and restart.

    "Have you checked if the same issue is present when you are playing the game using different slot?

    I made sure these ports were open and tried a new game slot.
    Still have failure to save issue.

    I don't think Ubisoft look at these forums

    Ubisoft support reported problem with saving was caused by SpyBot S&D entries and suggested un-installation of the program if problem persisted. I removed it and the problem ceased.

    It worked for me. I wasn't using SpyBot much anyway since Win Defender got more efficient in it's job. I hope this works for you.

    Keep your eye on the animated diamond. If it stays up for more than a few seconds, quit and restart AC2.

    Well I don't use Spybot...Anyway, what do you mean exactly...? The "saving diamond" appear differently when is not saving?

    The saving diamond appears when AC2 synchronizes and saves to "username"/AppData/local/Ubisoft Game Launcher/savegame_storage/bWIn***(random name folder)/4
    It creates 2 files per profile -
    "1.save" and
    "1.save.metadata"

    It overwrites these files at every save.
    At any given time you will only have 2 saves of this name in folder 4.

    When the diamond appears it means saving is in progress and should exit when finished (a few seconds).
    If however, the diamond stays animated during gameplay, take this as a warning that something is wrong. It will not save again past this point!
    Some say to disable online storage and save locally, but It made no difference to saving and I lost about 16 hours of gameplay. I made contact with Ubisoft support and their replies and fixes seemed to be a "stab in the dark".
    They seemed to think I was the only one who had a problem. Then, after following all of their suggestions (with no end to the problem) they said it may be due to SpyBots port watching activity and since uninstalling and deleting all traces of the program, I have not had the problem.
