It has a visual feel of being in an "aviation art" painting. Not quite realistic put an impression of reality. There was a Pacific flight sim quite a few years ago, around the mid-1990's (does anybody remember?) that had a similar "feel" to it. Lots of color and contrast, but not in a virtual photo-realistic way (as in PF). In that old sim the carrier decks would "roll-up" like a loose carpet as you taxied for take-off!!
One little comment... The close-up screen shot of the view looking at the co-pilot (the one with the 5th Air Forces patch) needs to be a higher rank than corporal to be in that seat... unless every other officer is dead!! Also, the chevrons are upside-down for the USAAF... but I don't want to be nit-picky!
But in the positive, there seems to be a lot of ships, a bunch of aircraft, and nice scenery.
cheers,

I would have been happy to volunteer my time and resources for a sim that I believe in. As it is... I found out lack of ships was a problem far too late to make a difference.
Actually SaQSoN... I'd appreciate you checking your PM. I have some questions for you.

Ok, sounds good to me, you could get modelling ships now for BOB, we have up to five years until the Pacific Theatre is done again. Plenty of time for someone with the time and finances to get upto speed with 3D Studio max and help get it right this time.

Right now, it _is_ money. Game making is a business, and if someone can suggest 1C or Ubi a _well profitable_ venture, featuring additional ships for PF, I bet, they will be interseted.
Or, if we are speaking about a "year before", when the game was in development... Well, there are many circumstances, which led to the situation, we have now with ships (or other things) in the game. Those circumsstances include bad project managment, irresponsible or unskilled modellers, very short development time for such a project, lack of reference (by then), again, lack of funding and many more other problems.
And, finally, when comparing to the "Pacific Storm" title, do not forget, that it is a _strategy_ game. And for this particular genre, absence or presence of certain ground/air/naval unit types may gradually affect gameplay.
For the flight sim game the main focus are, obviously, the air units, while presence or absence of other units affects the gameplay at much lesser scale.
As for my personal opinion, I too regret, that there are no historically correct ships, maps, etc. in the game. But, I know, that currently there is practically no chance for more ships to appear in the game, so there is no need to start it all over again.
Particulary, taking in account, that _1C does have a perfect clues on what should have been, or should be added in the game to make it perfect._
PS Copy on the PM. Answering it right now. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

It's an RTS with first person stapled on it. Might be fun but don't expect the level of FM, DM, AI, etc., etc. that we are spoiled with now.

I agree this game is not intended as a full Flight Simulator. Its not a direct competitor to The Pacific Fighter program.
Its a RTS game with Flight Simulator capabilities. I"am sure it will not have the same qualities of a true dedicated flight simulator.
But I find it to a have a very interesting concept. It will try to give us a strategic and tactical plus personal simulator capabilities in the same program.
The reason I brought it up is that there are many more games dedicated to the European Theater than there are about the Pacific theater.
I think World war two should represented by its totality and not just by one Theater.
I do not understand why developers are so facinated by the European Theater when the Pacific Theater has so many facinating aspect to it as well.
I hope in the future developers will include the whole war instead of just one Theater war.
Thank you

Hi there. I’m that notorious Sergei from Lesta Studio. I saw a lot of visits of our Pacific Storm site from this page today which surprised me and made me visit this page. Now you can write all sarcastic comments to me personally.
I have very few time for the Internet and forums and only today I saw my interview on strategyinformer. Yes, I made a fool of myself--in a hurry made an unfortunate mistake of a bomber in that old strategyinformer interview (written in year 2003). I am a linguist by education and learned the names of the planes and ships only in the middle of Pacific Storm’s development. Unfortunately, our game designerâ€"ť-an aircraft engineer in his pastâ€"ť-does not speak Engligh good and I have to take care of the international interviews. Believe me, he knows the names of the planes better than me.
Also sorry that one of the screens on StrategyInformer is fake: it was derived from our game concept document. Donnow how it turned out to be there. We did a lot of things since that time. I think the guys from our budding team 1C:MaddoxGames will forgive me for some self-promotion in their forum:
http://www.pacificstorm.net/screens08.htm
http://www.pacificstorm.net/screens07.htm and etc.
2 Enthor1: I have a translation of almost all of the articles but we do not launch the English version of the site so far. Oleg told me about their legal issues with PF units and we do not want to repeat these mistakes.
2 goshikisen: Pacific Storm is not a sim. It is more an RTS and a tactical wargame with elements of a sim. I cannot say its air simulation mode is an arcade because we have many features typical for a sim. For instance, you need to open bomb hatch and straighten out the plane to release bombs. Again, it is not a rival to Il2: PFâ€"ť-both are entirely different games in idea and gameplay.
MiamiEagle: Thanks for the kind words!

I saw a game in Target not too long ago, that had a Hellcat in D-day markings.
And people whine about the long flights we have in game now.
Just wait 'till you're leaving the coast of France bound for Japan, then you can *****

um...that was me. Sorry.
I was thinking more of the problems UBI had with aircraft Labels and Lawyers.
Pacific Strategy game looks good--the more I learn about Pacific after Pacific Fighters releace, the more I want to explore what happened at all levels in Pacific, and Pacific Strategy game would let us do that.
The automatic AI transport system looks really good.

Well its NOT internet Brownie Point dogfight. Its a different type of game.
However...
(babelfish webbpage translator) <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Moreover, in the game even it is necessary to open the bomb bays before bomb release - and indeed there is no this possibility even in this remarkable aviasimulyatore as Il-2: Attack aircraft.
