The 787-8 is gonna try and replace the 767-300ER and A330-200.
So far, the A330-200 still leads the field as it's gonna be stretched to 238t MTOW and get reduced fuel-consumption (about -1% over the current RR Trent-700) in 2010.
The first 787s will definately not be better than those birds, as they're overweight by quite a bit.
Let's see how it all works out in one or two years, when they finally manage to get the 787's empty-weight down to specs.
I'm keen on seeing it take to the air finally...
