    It would seem like the 787-3 is going to be 90% as big dimensionally to the 777-200 series but a lot lighter weight. Just from looking at the specs of the two on the Boeing website.

    The 787-8 is gonna try and replace the 767-300ER and A330-200.

    So far, the A330-200 still leads the field as it's gonna be stretched to 238t MTOW and get reduced fuel-consumption (about -1% over the current RR Trent-700) in 2010.

    The first 787s will definately not be better than those birds, as they're overweight by quite a bit.
    Let's see how it all works out in one or two years, when they finally manage to get the 787's empty-weight down to specs.

    I'm keen on seeing it take to the air finally...

    It's almost ready. Click for the first flight webcast. Webcast starts at 0940, and the aircarft is shceduled to take off not long afterwards.
