First flight set for tomorrow, Dec 15! I'm this close to going to Everett myself to see it!
In other news, Boeing secured orders from Korean Air for the 747-8i. That makes two firm customer orders for the new jumbo, the other from Lufthansa. The freight version of the 747-8 has already secured orders from nearly 60 customers.
Sorry, hard to get excited about this one. Why can't Boeing do something different: a canard, a flying boat, a biplane.
Basically, from what I can figure out, the optimum shape for a subsonic jet passenger aircraft has already been determined, so they all look much the same. I'm sure there are technological advances, but nothing to rekindle my interest in the civil aviation industry. At least bus designers can come up with an occasional inovation...
Ach! What you gents aren't seeing is what make the Seven-Eight a revolutionary airplane. For the first time, the pressurization air will be humidified, which will be a quantum leap in passenger comfort, not to mention that more humid air will make airborne transmission of disease more difficult. The 787 also breaks ground in the extensive use of composites throughout the structure. This is part of why the aircraft will be fantastically efficient- with seat-per-mile costs that have airline operations types salivating. Sure, it's a tube on a wing, but it's the best tube on a wing- EVER.
Well, just doing the simple math sayz 787 - 777 = 10. So it's 10 more bigger. Hope that helps. Of course I don't have an aeronautical degree so it's really just a guess.Originally posted by Rjel:

How does it compare to the 777 as far as size?</div></BLOCKQUOTE>Ok, I know, I know. Why don't I just google it??
