    Just stumbled across a collection of really good WW2 aircraft photos, belonging to Captain Joseph J. Merhar Jr. The website doesn't say much about him, but I'm guessing from his photos that he was part of B-26 Marauder crew. He certainly knew how to take a good photo!

    well ..ok i'll say it ..the guy in the nose in the first pic looks like he's ahh smoking a joint..

    Just like a 'Joe' to sneak a smoke where he shouldn't. I'm thinking standard regulations forbade smoking while in flight.

    These are awesome shots of B-26s, you can almost feel their speed, they must have been a fun plane to fly.

    I'm also noting that the Spitfire has clipped wingtips, meaning that it is a low altitude interceptor. I read this before, but can somebody check my assertion?

    Nice pics

    @ Silent O, you would be right about the spitfire, it was a short term fix to make them more competetive with a new 109.
    Wasn't used for too long as a new spitfire was on it's way but it worked.
