The first picture is the southside of the city of Paterson (New Jersey). I grew up just to the right of that tall center structure.
The second picture is a little further to the right (of the first picture). It shows part of the city of Clifton (in the foreground). The tall yellow-brick structure (just right of center) is in the city of Passaic. That's NYC in the background. Just to the lower right of the Empire State Building is Giants Stadium in Rutherford, NJ.
