The Details
The compact version of the blue screen of death. So compact it fits in the palm of your hand. Brought to you by Nokia.
The worst move Nokia could have made.

Don't care, I have an iphone.
Seriously worst move nokia could have made. Been using their phones since I had a cell phone, and been happy. But my last phone before changing to the iphone in January was a nokia and I hated it-awful mirror screen impossible to see in daylight-crappy slide and everytime I tried to answer the phone I touched the music button which played some crummy preloaded group.
My previous ones were great and simple-and I have always resisted changing my phones often. Heck I will keep my iphone 4 even when the 5 comes out this year. I kept my crappy Dell for farrrr to long as well.

I've had a Motorola for about 5 years now. It almost looks new and usually works well. But even with a new battery and a fresh charge it'll sometime lose it's charge within an hour of so. Sometimes the screen just goes blank. I was considering buying anew phone, a Nokia, but after seeing your post Joe, I think I'll just get my Moto flashed.

get my Moto flashed

Somehow that doesn't klingt right.

Pirsch, battery not charging can be as simple as near-invisible oxide layer on the charging contacts. The fix is simple, rub the contacts with a pencil eraser. Depending on where you live this cleaning needs to be done more or less often.

Cool idea Gunz.
Perhaps a Q-tip and Windex will do the trick. I'll give it a try.
Edit: Done. Good call. The contacts for the battery, memory card, and sim card were all pretty dirty. I suspect it'll work better now but only time will tell.
Thanks again.

My biggest gripe with the 'just buy a new one' philosophy is the trash pile. To me since 1969, 'disposable' is a dirty word. That whole 'system based on waste' attitude is one of the things that mankind must change before things can really get better.

My phone has been harassing me for over a year now. The same with my wife: "Buy a new one".
My jacket is about 15 years old. My watch more than 10. My belt is 11. I have a USB HDD that's about 8 years old. Still works.
I know what you mean Gunz.

A lot of it is just "keeping up with the Jones'"
Newer can and is usually more exciting than older.
I try to think more about the function of what i'm buying rather than the immediate gratification of having something new.
I think Nokia is just entering a product that competes with the current market share.
The idea being that most people just need the function of a phone, but then there are several who also have ipods, cameras and notebooks.
Why not have all in one gadget?
For me, the value just isn't there from what i've seen of other iphones.
Having an iphone wouldn't immediately replace those functions so sending them to the waste pile wouldn't be the option.
It wouldn't really replace my notebook because the screen is smaller and making it larger would defeat the purpose.
I also enjoy having a camera with the capacity to shoot higher quality photos and videos something that cellphones have never been able to match beyond a snap shot in perfect light.
The only real headache is when it comes to charging them and the outlets required when traveling.

If I'm not mistaken this move is based on Windows-CE... which at the last time I looked was slight better than PC windows OS.... but ja, talk about shooting both your feet off.
I like nokia for their simplicity of their phone interface (which is/was the best), but this move will probably stuff that up completely.

nokia's problem is not so much with mobile 7. Its their product line up. I just dont see any good reason to be trying to see like 30 different phones at once. They could do way better by cutting down to like 4 phones. two different power levels of smart phone a mid range phone/mail reader and a cheep text and voice model. Then they could focus on doing those fewer things, really well again.
the os wont matter as much if they are doing it really really well.
