You guys seem pretty smart, doubt I could stump ya.

Can anyone tell me the strange story of the last time the p-51 saw combat?

Wasn't that during Operation Powerpack in the Dominican Republic in 1965? And ironically it was against the US.

    1969, Honduras.

The socalled La guerra del fútbol a five-day war. A 5-day war between El Salvador and Honduras. Caused by political conflicts between both countries, concerning immigration. Inflamed by rioting during the 2nd North American qualifying round for the 1970 FIFA World Cup.

Yup, the football war. Set off by rioting at the FIFA finals between El Salvador and Honduras.

El Salvadorean p-51s took on Honduran Corsairs. The fighting only lasted a few days, but they didn't reach a peace treaty for over a decade.

Truly passionate sports fans down there.
