Or an unfair fight, take your pick. I'm not askin' that tired assed question, "which Bond was best"? It's Connery and all the rest are fightin' it out for second place. No, I'm askin' which Connery kicks all the others in the arse, steals their lunch money and puts their respective momma's to work on the corner?

    Let the games begin.

Do you know how FEW people on this board would GET that reference... One of my fave character actors from "The Quiet Man" to "Fort Apache". Outstanding..

Since we aren't including performances in other movies, I have to go with Connery. Otherwise "Highlander" would be enough to for me to change my vote.

After Connery and Craig beat down the others, it would come down to a slugfest between them, with Connery taking the crown.

..... Yeah, he's pretty far out on the old end of the dial of the "Wayback Machine".

Remember "Wagon Train", when Pernell Roberts still had hair?

    you missed out David Niven

But seriously, Connery would just need to jam his big hairy fist in Craig's philtrum and that would be the end - and he'd have a perfectly delivered one-liner to mark the occasion!

Connery will always be the quintessential Bond IMO... Always number one for overall "Bondness" he defined the role and all the others are being compared to him.

However I have to say.. after two films.. Craig is redefining the role, and I also would have to say that Craig gets my nod for the "toughest, hardest, meanest" Bond.

Granted.. when Connery was doing Bond, the level of lethality and stunts that we see today was just not happening, so in a way it isnt afair comparison, and the fight on the train in From Russia with love still gets my nod for one of the best Bond fights of all time, but Craig is a much better Bond than I thought he would be.. and IMO he has already bumped Brosnan to the number 3 spot. Everybody else is an also ran.. and Roger Moore... pfft.. He never was Bond for me.. he was always The Saint. Roger Moore was one of the reason I stopped watching Bond movies.

Timothy Dalton was supposed to be closest to the book character.

Sean Connery made the series the success it is today and literally wrote the book on Bond.

Daniel Craig brought Bond kicking and screaming into the 21st Century and gave us a Brutal killing machine Bond...exactly what it needed.

BUT lets not forget Judy Dench, she is so well cast as M.. When I first heard that she was going to play M, I thought OMG what have they done? What an inspired choice to make M a woman and a woman in the form of Judy Dench, she exudes that cool hard killer mentality that bounces back and forth off Craigs character.....

So for me it is Craig......

No one mentioned Peter Sellers then? Thank God

Timothy Dalton....the "PC" Bong...*gag, wretch, upchuck*.......If that was how Bond was supposed to be then glad they ignorred the books.

Moore I'm thinking most just like due to nostalgia and good scripts......Though I'm not getting why no one likes Pierce Brosnan, an awesome Bond, Connery quality IMLTHO.

Not seen the James Blonde movies yet, guess I need to.
