when i restart my PC my 6800 gt defaults to a core clock speed of 388 and the mem. is at 1.05????should be 370/1.00...not sure when this started...but i have change drivers 3 times and all have this issue...seems like my bios in my vid card are out of whack???i have tried ticking the "apply these settings at start up." tab...and it works until i turn off the PC...when i turn it back on it defaults back to the 388/1.05 speeds...

Have you ever thought about editing the clock speeds in its' bios? I know there is a tool for editing ATI bios's. I have used it to edit the clock speeds of my video cards bios and then re-flashed the card with the edited bios. If Nvidia has such a program, this would be one way to get those clock speeds to stick without depending on a program to startup with Windows to hold those speeds on your card. If there isn't such a program to edit Nvidia bios's, maybe you can find another oc'ing program besides the one you are using that will actually clock your card to those settings when Windows starts. Good luck.

To get that you must have used some sort of overclocking utility.
The stock built in over clocker may be activated.
It has two levels, 2D and 3D.
You need to disable it in both levels.

Also, if you are running an over clock utility
such as "power strip" it may be running on
start up and over clocking you.

I use a utility called "Smart Start" to clean
    up the start up programs.

It is good advise to never use an automated
    over clocker on start up.

That clock speed is too fast for a 6800GT with
air cooling. You will get artifacts.

The RAM speed is the most critical.

I ran my 6800GT at as high as 388 with no problems
but the RAM speed is very flakey, a little over
    and all hell breaks loose.

    I now use a 6800 ULTRA, it's a happy card.

to everyone thanx for your input...im almost out of ideas...but i think i might be on to something
stay with me if you can....
okay i can set the clocks back to 370/1000 with coolbits and it works well...but i now see that i do not have the low power 3d option avalible to tweak...so i down loaded riva tuner witch is cool as hell..and it did give me the view of the low power 3d clocks but i could not adjust them and they were "locked" at 388/1.05...so maybe some one can help and i could post my dx diag too...i did notice some sound problems but i did not think that would hurt my video???sorry for the rambling post....
