if you start the DLC before you finish the game, you will be getting two emails (one at the start, one at the end).

    spoiler
if you start the dlc after finishing the game, you will hear a conversation between the two people you heard at the end of the game, talking about a temple

    no problem.

but the thing is, the emails won't appear on the pc in the sanctuary, they jut appear once, (insie the animus) and you can't recollect them. but they will be probably somewhere on the net

also, if you play the DLC after you've beaten the game, on top of the two people talking about the temple, you'll also hear <spoiler>

when you initiate the DLC, one mentioned Desmond is going into some kind of critical condition and needed to be tranquilized but the other said no, and insist of continuing the animus section.

then at the end, one mentioned Desmond went into comatose state and the other said need not worry since "they" always manage to come back out by themselves.
    hm.

One of them is William, Desmond's Father.
