That may be, but who do you think made it really popular ? Call of dutyOriginally posted by ImperialDane:

DICE's battlefield series did it first.
@The Voice: I think that is a matter of taste, and a question of whether or not the devs can do a good enough job of advancing the game.
Otherwise, this thread seems to be ever so slowly going off-topic and turning into a flamewar. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Err...BF2 was not popular back in the day?

I think if the devs had to include all contries in EU then they will never finish...Originally posted by Deggnar:

Are you kidding? Or you just dont even know anything abour the EU... it has 27 member states.. including cypress, slovenia or for example Malta.. Malta's population is 400.000 ppl.. Guess what strong army malta has... A solid army of the EU wouldnt be realistic, becaue all of the countries in the EU have its own military policy, we dont have a solid army at all. Better if you point on the map and choose 6 different kind of random nations... jeez
@angus: That may be, but it certainly has not gotten the same amount of attention as Call of duty modern warfare 1 and 2 has, and generally you just see people go "modern warfare", basically pointing at they want something set in the same period. At least, that is how i understand it. And generally i don't recall alot of people asking for rts games in our period before Modern warfare.
I just think it was time for change, almost every second game worth playing was about ww2...and like I said theres only so much you can do with ww2 before it gets boring. WIC is a good example of a modernish RTS that can work if they do it right...Originally posted by ImperialDane:

Well i think that is actually a matter of taste as WW2 games are still doing nicely, for some there will definately be a need to move on to other things, for others ? Not really. I mean i'm always ready for more WW2, of course that also implies some new and improved gameplay and interesting design features![]()
I agree, look what happened to the Call of Duty series.Originally posted by Nuclear_Wessel:

Surely you don't just want all games to go through this cycle...it would just be the same game, but modern...
