I hope this is a simple question...
Ok I've using YSE for a week or two now and really like it. But I can't seem to figure out the recommendation system.
Some workouts in the personal training session say "trained" and "recommended" and some just say "beginner/advanced" and either "recommended" or noting.
What does "trained" mean? Because some of the programs said it before I had ever even did the first session.
Thanks.
When you take the fitness test it gives you one of 3 ratings (Beginner, Trained, Advanced) in two categories (cardio & toning). For example when I first started I had beginner for cardio and trained for toning. Later after using YSFE for a while I retook the fitness test and received a rating of trained for cardio and advanced for toning. Those label on the personal trainer programs help you choose what's best for you according to your current fitness level. The recommended label I am less certain about. Clearly the game thinks they're right for you, but I don't know if it's associated with the goals you set for yourself during the fitness test, your fitness level or both.
To me Trained means "You're doing pretty well in this area but could use some improvement."
All of the above I have just pieced together from using YSFE. Others may have other ideas about their meaning.
One thing that I have been wondering: If you take the test and get tagged as beginner (as I do because one of the skills that don't register right for me appears on the cardio test), will the game ever increase your rating to trained when you have progressed through enough sessions/exercises? Or is the only way to get marked as "trained" or "advanced" to retake the fitness test?
I believe that is the case, that they change by retaking the fitness test. That has been my experience so far. But I also think the labeling on the programs are simply recommendations or guide posts and you are free to do any program you wish.Originally posted by CliffS2:

I cannot do what is not unlocked. I retook the fitness test. Since the first exercise in the cardio tests refuses to register at least half the time no matter what I do, I can never get past "beginner". And I have only unlocked session 1.2 for both cardio and sculpting as a result. I haven't spent a huge amount of time doing either so far, so I am hoping that the next steps (1.3 and then 2.1) will open up naturally in a few days. Though, Pendulum is another exercise that often will not register for me, so it is hard for me to get a good score there. I hope that UbiSoft will release a patch that tunes up the registration on some of these exercises!
Oh, I see what you're saying now. I don't think the unlocking of the more advanced workouts in the program has anything to do with what you have been declared by the fitness test. I'm sorry if my comments mislead you. I believe the more advanced sessions being unlocked is directly related to your increased proficiency in doing the exercises you have been presented.
The only reason I retake the fitness test is to see what might change in terms of that is recommended to me and to see if I have improved according to the test.
The fitness test certainly does affect what is (initially) unlocked for you. I am currently at 3.1 in toning (since the test rated me "advanced") but 1.2 in both cardio and sculpting (both up from 1.1) since the fitness test rated me "beginner" in cardio.
Fortunately, I appear able to do any of the (paid for) named programs, regardless of what the fitness test says. For example, I can do the sleeve-busting program, and another more advanced cardio program whose name escapes me at the moment. I also downloaded "cardio racer" with my Uplay points, and am able to do it even though it is rated "advanced". Well, that is, I can run it. DOING it about kills me.![]()
Now I see what I've been missing - I just read your latest post in the "How to advance to next level" thread. While I knew the session selection existed by reading various posts here in the forum, I had never actually look at that area until just now. When I tried the cardio, or toning (haven't tried sculpting yet) programs, I just let them advance in their own way. I didn't go hunting to see what was unlocked. And while I have heard people complain about sessions not being unlocked, I just sort of figured that when I was really ready to do them that they would be unlocked. That and the fact that I have been tending to do the various 12 session programs.
After looking I see I have Toning unlocked up to 3.1 and the other two unlocked up to 2.1, I think. Now I understand your frustration.
Hey guys got another question and didn't want to make a whole nother thread.
I'm doing the Men's Health workout routines (Fat Loss and Arms) and I've done each about 5 times and scored about 94-97 each time. Yet it continues to just say "11 sessions remaining"...how do I advance it? And do the other sessions have different workouts?
Hi Quick.
Make sure that you are pushing "finish". There is an issue too where you go into personal training the next day and "update my programme" (try something new), lets say cardio. That becomes your new personal fitness focus and your Mens Health workout does not advance. Don't worry though. The routine won't change anyway. I've learned to temper my frustration by just skipping back and forth between personal training sessions - probably better for your overall workout to mix in a variety too.
