Notice how this later model 109 can really pull some tight turns. I don't even see the slats deploying yet! Amazing.

Internal combustion engines tend to make smoke as they operate

He was also probably flying with a rich mixture for reliability.

Love that G-4. Unlike all the other 109s, carefully handled and treated with utmost care and with gentle manouvers, its owners and pilots really like to push her to the limits..

It is what this baby was built for, after all.

Nice flying, but he's not really turning that hard. However, it does appear - as Panzer_Ace noted - that he's running the engine awfully rich! Helps the engine run a bit cooler, though at the expense of some performance.

Thx for posting and yes, it is good to see Rote 7 flying. After the crash it was reported they were only gonna restore her for museum...

Nice vid, about the slats, I think in IL2/1946, they deploy to soon/easily and they don't make any sound!
IRL they were supposed to open suddenly with a loud bang, thus giving the pilot an audiable warnign of stall when he was concentrating on aiming and or evasion if he couldn't 'feel' the onset of stall.
