    Nice one.

In the last thread, Carts posted the link to Revell's new Arado 196.

But I found the sprue shots to the same. It's 1/32, so it would make a good ceiling model

Look at all that detail! WOW!!

Been going through hell at work for the last two weeks due to a downed server. I'm up to my armpits in geeks and angry bosses. All the while I have to try and concentrate on doing my already complicated job. To top it off we had a freak tornado outbreak here in Dallas including one that passed my building by a few feet. Crazy stuff! Not been in much of a mood to model with all ths stress lately. This weekend though I hope to return to the Hurricane.

Here is the tornado that passed in front of my building. It had actually petered out quite a bit by the time it got to me but it caused quite a comotion anyway. Warning sirens blaring and all! Note the cars that actually drove through it near the end of the clip. What was that then?

Wild week JG. Glad you weren't hurt when that twister struck. You can see in the video that it took out a couple power lines!

Anyway, here's what I have to show for today:

Wings, engine and cowling finished and glued.

Now the scribing (which I will then fill in later to tone down the effect), sanding, filling, and shaping will ensue. And I need to figure out something for the landing lights. Any suggestions?

Just to give you an idea of what I'm working with - the thickness of the wing trailing edge...

    I shouldn't be hand model

Another update, have glued the two hull halves together and added more to the sides, still need to finish of some of the detailing, have also added some detailing work to the dish as it looked a bit bare... as well as the gear wells, the entrance and the sidewalls, just to beef up the lack of detail it had........ on to the pics. the tunnel lower is just added, I need to work on the seams of that etc.

    Looking good, chaps!

No tornado, but have literally been living at work - that's not what I signed up for!

Finally get some time to myself, and all's going swimmingly with the Cromwell...

The cammo'd front end fits perfectly...

...as does the turret after a nervous sawing session to remove a sizeable resin block...

    time for a 'D'oh!' moment...

that plastic front end needs cutting out. Tempted to leave it alone, the Tamiya kit is great out of the box, the parts fit beautifully...

but that resin is so-o-o-o-o cool...

Nurse! Pass me the scalpel, I'm going in...

    Keep 'em coming, chaps!

That tank is going to look awesome LF. I have total confidence in you.

Here's my little tidbit for today:

I was kinda unhappy with the shape of the kit's cowling. It is perfect in profile, and from the top view, but has an odd shape that is apparent from every other angle.

Now I feel like I'm just carving a wooden airplane desk-model.

So, how does it look to you? What can I do to make it better (I've never cut plastic like this before!)

    As of yesterday:

    As of 5 minutes ago:

From the bottom, left is old, right is my "mod"

As you can see, I got a little lazy in the wheel wells. I kinda regret that now, but I hope no one else takes a peek.

    Coming along nicely, Romanator.

Making steady progress at my new workbench (good light, but that orange wall has got to go)...

Cromwell carnage! Chopped the front plate out. No going back now...

Tricky cutting around the mudguard brackets, but not as bad as I envisaged - worse case scenario will be a couple of strips of foil or even paper to make hessian tape lying over any gaps, but I think I've got away with it. Some stress marks on the plastic (no big deal), a dry run looks like I've got away with it...

Starting to look the part - now it's just a matter of working out what goes and what stays from the Tamiya parts...and not superglueing myself to anything, of course...

Rear end done without resortng to surgery...out of the box, the kit is fairly 'idiot proof', and beautifully moulded - I feel a twinge of guilt about chopping it up - might have to get another one later to ease my conscience, it would make a nice companion piece...

    Keep 'em coming, chaps!

Are there any other resin parts that you're going to use on this one?

TT, that Falcon is really cool! I look forward to seeing how she ends up. Do you plan to make a diorama for her?
