Hi to all!I'm new here and I love this game.I play the career mode and my current situation is in the year 1942 (started from 1941 with Porpoise). Now I'm with Tambor and when I reach Midway and get a little bit to the west there's always enemy aircraft attacking me and doesn't stop till midnight....I run out of ammo...This I had with the Porpoise too.How come there be enemy aircraft in American territory? Is there an aircraft carrier near my location? Thanks to all.Sorry for the english if there's something wrong

If it's early June 1942 in the game, you may have just run into the Battle of Midway.

Welcome WarriorWithin! Running out of ammunition.... There's a clue there if I think about it.

You're shooting at those airplanes, aren't you? Bullets are the best and most positive detection mechanism there is! When you shoot at one of those airplanes, he knows you're there. (Yeah, I know it's obvious.) Then he gets on his radio and calls all his bombing buddies to the party, for which you are the cake and ice cream.

There really is no American territory in 1942. Every time the Americans and Japanese met for almost two years, the Americans were handed their kiesters. A Japanese airplane could come from just about anywhere. If he sees you he will call friends.

Moral of story, children friends? Don't be seen. Submerge on sighting an airplane. Get radar as quickly as you can. Your AA gun is to make noise with to amuse the crew, to hang laundry on and to pester sampans. It does not shoot down enemy aircraft.

    So, repeat after me:

"I will not" what? What will not ??Shoot the enemy? Why not if it's the most effective way to destroy them?
If you think I'm leaving the shooting to the crew you'r wrong! The AA Gun Does take enemy aircraft down, what's so hard about it?It ain't hard to shoot a Zero, if you know how...It's just that they are coming with numbers and slow my moving process (I'm turning the time compression up to reach Honshu faster)and the aircraft is just bothering me.You said that they're callin' bombers and I agree with you!But how long will it take a bomber to reach my boat if he's coming from an island for example...10 minutes after the Zero approachs my boat his friends come, in 10 minutes! What's the closest japanese airbase to Midway?I think it's Wake, but maybe I'm wrong, correct me if I'm wrong!I don't think a bomber would reach my boat from Wake to Midway in 10 minutes. And where does aircraft refuel? My point is that there's a carrier near somewhere.I don't think the submerge is best for me but I know it's 99% safe (I have to wait til dawn)...It's interesting how do you turn the radar when it works only when the boat is surfaced? It's the sonar that works submerged and the other thing is that the year is 1942 and I don't have a sonar neither a radar or at least I can't turn them on (I don't know maybe it's a bug).So the shooting is not the problem the problem is the number...

As this is a subsim, they tend to give aircraft modelling second rate attention, and visa versa for a flight sim (eg: IL2).

Are you using any MODs, the vanilla game is known to have tooo many a/c flying around

Yes you're right the fact remains that this is a game and it's not that 100% real.No I'm not using a mod I'm with the original game.I'm shure there's a carrier somewhere but I can't just guess the direction and distance. At least I'll have fun with the aircraft

I feel your pain. It used to drive me nuts till I started using TMO. The Japanese in the vanilla game have 50,000 aircraft that can fly anywhere all day long. You'll only get away from it using one of the MODS. In TMO though, I seem to not get enough aircraft when I think I should. No way I should patrol on the surface, in daylight, off Honshu after sinking some ships and rarely encounter ASW air patrols. Seems to be feast or famine. My opinion of course.

Once the creew get alot of experience, IE master chief rank and some medals, I find I can whack aircraft easily with a twin 50 cal and a twin 40mm.. H8k...can take too much abuse. I've seen them burning from 3 places and their pontoons blown off and can keep going. H6k..maybe. But Betty, zero, val and kates are easy and fun targets. Also, make sure you flank and hard rudder once the aircraft sight you and turn to make their run. It usualy throws off their aim.

Actually that is the first time you posted the exact date. Previously you only said it was 1942.

That being the case, it is the Midway invasion fleet you are up against. Here is a map of how the battle developed. The carriers are 150 to 200 nm NW of Midway. Go get them. Make them pay for Pearl Harbor. Good luck Captain.
