I would imagine that if his body was put on display for news organizations etc to confirm, AQ or some other group would try to pull off a raid or a bombing to either capture the body or destroy it, or something. I think the "burial within 24 hours according to Islam" thing is a cover to let them get rid of it without making wherever the body was kept a giant target for every two-bit terrorist in the world.

It is weird but these are the times we live in.

Al Jazeera will have a credible Bin Laden talking about how they didn't get him, real soon.

Probably so. And much as I don't like staged trials, and generally with the victor's justice. I don't see much problem with that. Trials are only a guarantee measure that only the guilty is punished based on sufficient evidence - and Osama freely abd publicly admitted being behind 9/11, there was no doubt about it, which resulted in thousands of deaths. Any court in the World would have served capital punishment, and in the US this means death penalty, as in most Muslim countries AFAIK.

In short that shot just saved a lot of paperwork.

Great news. I have been waiting for this moment since I turned on my TV at 10:00 AM on 9/11/2001. It's a good feeling. I hope he is having fun with his 72 virgins although his balls are blown off and his head is exploded.
    Good job by Special Forces.

Doubt it. I would imagine the "normal" part of Bin Laden's family not giving a damn about his corpse, nor the US under Obama feeling any obligation to hand them over the corpse of the #1 most wanted man for the last 10 years.

So far we have the US statement and a picture that looks like it's form a 2004 cell phone camera. We also have fear mongering about "OMG EVEN BIGGER" terrorist attacks in retaliation, keeping the ole fear still alive and going.

What I think is that ole Osama may have died some years ago from natural causes, but the US kept it quiet to keep the war on terror going and to spare itself the shame of never catching this guy. And now possibly faked it as if "they did get him at the end", at the same time threatening with "oh noes very big" revenge attacks. Now I won't claim this as a fact since I don't have the evidence for it, but then again, I also have no more evidence of Osama dying than I do of Gaddafi's 3 grandchildren dying, it just boils down to govt. statements....

The body should be at a non disclosed location, and be verified by a select number of invited non-military and non-govt. experts who can confirm it's really him. Not dropped into the sea and one grainy image taken.

Is nice he wasn't killed with a smart bomb from a remote controled drone, but close and personal, with American Navy SEALS puting two bullets between his eyes, in his own bedroom.

Hell of a job all involved.

I saw on fox news his wife identified him before he was shot.. very interesting since they also said all the others in the compound were taken away to a field and turned over to the pakistanis, the same paks who have been sheltering him.. next we will see his wife on al jazeera claiming her husband had surrendered and was summarily executed in a barbaric fashion, she will sue the US in the world court and win..

I hate seeing the world climaxing over this. You guys honestly don't think that Al Qaida, or any other terrorist organisation, have expanded way beyond Bin Laden at this point? I can guarantee you that there are hundreds of cells more now, than it was 10 years ago, and they keep growing.

Let me tell you how terrorist cells work, the moment one member pulling strings or leader becomes official, they get cut off. There's no point in having official characters besides drawing attention and giving the real "management" some breathing space. How come Bin Laden was in a $1mill villa and not underground somewhere?? He was sacrificed.

Taking 10 years for the most powerful country and Allies in the world to find ONE MAN just shows us how good they are when they really want to. My gut tells me that there's something comin up in a year or two, and it's not for the sake of avenging Bin Laden. I hope I'm wrong though.
