Sound in Windowed Mode | Forums

I usually play in windowed mode because of the slow nature of the game (I can do other things while playing) however I wish I could hear the sounds of the game while not in the game window. Is there some magical way to hear the game sounds while in another window?

I think you'll find that if you play in full screen that the game sounds will be heard better. Depending on your computer you might find the game runs slow because you have too many things running in the background which take up memory which the game needs to run. Also, when you're playing in full screen if you want to go back to your desktop you can use the key command Alt-Tab to minimize the game screen to your taskbar. When you want to resume just click on the tab on your taskbar.

Welcome to the forum...one thing that concerns me is that due to the slow play of the game....you are aware that you can speed time up dramatically!!!! I normally find I don't have time to do anything else whilst playing it.

If you already know this then I apoligise for treating you like a noob!!!!

Oh don't worry I am well aware that I can speed the game up. Also, I have a pretty beefy computer that can easily handle the game in windowed mode. I do occasionally play in full screen mode as well. I just like being able to easily answer incoming IM's and check my email as the game plays without alt-tabbing out. What seems to happen to me is I'll get an IM while I am time compressed, which takes my attention from the game. Since there is no sound while I'm replying the IM I don't notice that time compression halted because I just sailed into an enemy convoy and now I'm resting on the ocean floor.

Yup, TC is dangerous. Be careful out there and make sure the right people end up on the bottom.

Only help I can give is to not put your TC at such a high level. When I play SH4 and have other stuff at hand to do, such as folding laundry or watching after the kids, I try to make sure TC is no faster than x4096.
