No service really on my father's side. But he died at age 91 and was born in 1902. Soooo he lived to see America go from horse and mule to Space Shuttle.
On my mother's side, she had 13 brothers and sisters. 5 brothers and herself served in WWII. My uncles Lester, Herman, Feet (Floyd), D.C. (Dallas) and Shelt (Sheldon) all went from C.C.C. camps straight into the Army. Uncle Herman was in Italy, uncles Feet, Lester and D.C. all served in France. Uncle Shelt was a "Monford Point Marine". Mom was a nurse at the Naval Hospital in Norfolk Va.
I served as a Combat Engineer with 3 outfits. The 8th Engr Bn. attached to the 1st of the 9th Air Cav, the 5th Ash and Trash at Ft. Leonard Wood Missourii and the 2nd Engr Bn. Camp Castle Korea.
Me when I wore a younger mans clothes. Remember (particularly today) that U.S. ARMY stands for "Uncle Sam Ain't Released Me Yet!"

Well, I will Post what I know so far.
I had one Great Great Great Grandfather in the Spanish-American War.
Two Great Great Grand Fathers in the US Civil War.
One Great Grand Father in WWI
And my Grandfather was in WWII. What I know about him is that he saw little combat, but he did get shot at a little. He did some work on LST's repairing LCVP's. He did that at the Invasion of Pelalu (bad spelling) He was stationed on Guadalcanal after the fighting was over. He moved around some of the islands of the Pacific, but never really saw any fighting.
Thats all I can Remember, or know right now. I will post some more info when get it.
