Got a weird graphical defect going on with ATI drivers under Vista 64 bit (not tried 32 bit and not sure if XP64 is ok at the moment) images at end of post.
    Any ideas people?

    From the DangerDogz forum:

"Earliest version that supports our card is 8.7 and the purple weirdness is evident with them
Used, for giggles, the 7.11 file and no purple haze, but about 0.5 frames per second (pre 4800 series driver).

For reference to get the older driver to work in IL2 only:

Download from ATI target driver only pack.
Extract using, say 7-Zip, the atioglxx.dl_ file to a folder (example c:\temp)
Fire up command console with start and type in cmd.
In console: cd c:\temp and hit enter.
Then type this command: expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll
    C:\Users\Roger\Downloads>expand atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll
Microsoft (R) File Expansion Utility Version 6.0.6001.18000
Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

    Expanding atioglxx.dl_ to atioglxx.dll.
    atioglxx.dl_: 4236106 bytes expanded to 9306112 bytes, 119% increase.
Then copy the resulting atioglxx.dll to your IL2 folder and hey presto IL2 uses a different OGL drive to the rest of your system. "

    And (rather large - sorry):

XP64 Bit with 8.12 drivers does not have this purple sheen, so this is a Vista (64bit?) only problem.

yo, I had some glitches with my ATi 4870 with cat 8.11, 8.10 and 8.9 (I think 8.9 had the glitch, but its hard to recall now)

To fix it for me, I had to change the ATI catalyst settings to "High Quality", or "Quality" rather than using custom settings for the AA, AF, Mip mapping, etc. Glitch stopped, and IL-2 sure looked a lot better.

My glitch was a bit different as well, had to do with the ground textures looking like I was on acid. Or was I on acid? I can't remember now.

Thanks M8, since posting I have also noticed irregularities with my cockpit gauges too under XP64 (screen shot above was from Vista64) they have a misted appearance and when they damaged they disappear!

Also noticed ordinance damage on the canopy is borked too, so I will try the quality setting as you suggest
