Das Boot is the only Submarine movie I've seen and remember. I think I saw Operation Petticoat when I was really young but I don't remember it except for a pink submarine:P

Could any of you reccomend some?

I reccomend: "Destination Tokyo" also with Cary Grant made during ww2, "Operation Pacific" with John Wayne in this they work on the torpedo detonation problems at pearl, "Run Silent Run Deep" with Burt Lancaster and Clark Gable, and "Torpedo Run" with Ernest Borgnine.

You are right with the pink sub in "Operation Petticoat" it has Cary Grant in it, it was made in 1958 it is also very good

There's another movie that is not all that well known called Hellcats Of The Navy. It's stars Ronald Reagan and Nancy Davis. It's the only movie that the two of them ever starred in together. The movie is is about the US Submarine invasion of the Sea of Japan in 1945.

Though not a WII sub movie, I suggest watching Crimson Tide.

Plot Outline: Controversy boils over when Soviet rebels point nuclear weapons at the United States, and a message for the nuclear-missile sub U.S.S. Alabama gets cut off during transmission. Capt. Frank Ramsey (Gene Hackman) thinks he's been ordered to launch a pre-emptive strike, while Lt. Cmdr. Ron Hunter (Denzel Washington) believes the submarine has been ordered to stand down. Will the Alabama prevent a nuclear holocaust, or start one?

Another submarine movie (though a bit far fetched and not WW2) is Hunt for Red October. I think it is a fine action movie

Thank you for mentioning this movie, next to Das Boot, this is my Favorite movie. Gene Hackman does an excellent job. I would have loved to see an alternate ending to CT tho. What would have happened ? ooooohh

RUN SILENT, RUN DEEP!. I had mentioned it yesterday. Stars Clark Gable as Capt. Richardson and Burt Lancaster as LCDR Jim Bledsoe. The plot has Gable taking over Bledsoe's boat to hunt and destroy "Bungo Pete" a Japanese Destroyer that took out his first sub. It will remind you of Moby ****. Great Black and White movie they way they used to be.

Think about it, it was Hunters fault that they ran over their on antenna wire. The last order the Alabama recieved was to take up positon for an attack. As crazy as it seems having served in the military for 24 years, the last order recieved was always to be carried out. Ramsey had his ECM!. Another OK movie was "On the Beach". US sub ends up in AUstriala after nuke war and is avoiding radioactive fallout encompassing the earth. Too much mushy stuff though but had a great potential story line
