My Das Boot moment
Ouch! Lemme guess... that was an automated translations with a tool like Babelfish? It's almost gibberish in German. It says something like:Originally posted by Baldricks_Mate:
"kann der Seeumschlag unser gefallener Kamerad in ihr ewiges vom Rest umfassen..."
(may the sea envelope our fallen comrade into her eternal embrace of rest...)
"Can the seaenvelope encompass our fallen comrade in their eternal of remains."
A correct and comprehensible German translation of that saying would be:
"Möge die See unseren gefallenen Kameraden in ihre ewige Umarmung der Ruhe einhüllen".![]()

The sentiment was there in the English language version anyway.

The Hitchhickers Guide To The Galaxy
another wonderful piece of British humour and nonsense that fits wonderfully on the bookshelf with Monty Python scripts, Blackadder and Red Dwarf tapes, The Goodies re-releases and Spike Milligan's biography. A fitting collection for someone called Baldrick's Mate and whose world is a little surreal.
The first man i ever lost was when i was in command of U-99. i was having all kinds of fun with an elmo boat feeling invincible, so i manned the flak gun , and apparently they had a sniper on the elmo boat, yup the flak guy got it. a week later i lost the whole boat.and after loosing everyone on the U-124 when it went down , i havent had any losses or injuries. now on 15 patrols with U-553.
I lost my first two in a rather interesting and bizarre business which was so enthralling I decided to post itHere.
