Indeed! Same here. They're a very good match. Though I'm more confident in the P-40's armament and in the 109's flying performance. The P-40 takes a bit more skill to outfly a 109 in my opinion, well the F-4 anyway, which behaves much better at low speeds ...Originally posted by robtek1957:
The funny thing with the P-40 is:
When i fly it against 109's (e or f) i feel confident to win a encounter.
When i fly a 109 i feel also confident to win against a p-40. :-D
I must agree with both of you.
One area where the E and later models excell is in the fighter/bomber role. Not only are the guns very effective against soft skinned vehicles, it can carry a fair bomb load, and when you are done you have a good chance to fight your way out of a tight spot if the bad guys take an interest in your work.
And honestly, I am far more comfortable, and confident, in a Hawk than I am in a Mk. V Spitfire, especially those horribly slow Vc models with the Vokes filter.
+1000. Definitely the lowest point for the relative performance of the Spit. So little cannon ammo as well. I cry for my P-40 when my friends choose the Spit V in desert campaigns online.Originally posted by ElAurens:
