I think there is no other plane climbing that bad as the Ki-61 is. It's a really fast plane when going straight or diving but then becomes quiet uncontrollable.
Was it really that bad in climbing in real life?
Thanks for your input.

The figures I have for the KI61-I are as follows:
At an aircraft weight of 6982 lbs.
Rate of Climb:
@ sea level, 2440 ft./min.
@ 13,800ft. 2470 ft./min.
Time to 10,000ft. 4 min.
Time to 20,000ft. 8.45min.
Service ceiling, 35,100ft.
Vmax @ sea level: 302mph
Vmax @ 15,800ft: 361mph.
Take off at 6982lbs. (rated gross weight)
No wind: 744ft.
Into 25kt. headwind: 338ft.
Hope this helps.

Looks like those figures would be at the 30 min power setting, the rates are too low to be take-off or emergency power.
I'd guess the climb at combat power would be 3200 ft/min or thereabouts. That's 16.2 m/s for those of you of the metric persuasion.

thanks for your feedback. Hope they will fix it - it's a cool looking plane and makes fun to fly - beside the bleeding enegery thing.

Those performance numbers are all at "military" power setting.
Whatever that may mean.
