And how about now? I'd like to play a static campaign on this map, and the sooner it is released, the sooner somebody can design a campaign on it, right? Why not release what you have, and update it later as needed? It's nice you are putting signs and bustops on the ground, or whatever, but I can't see most of that stuff from 10000 feet.

I'm pretty confident that when this map is released, it will come with a few campaigns and missions. I cant see a project of this magnitude not being released without some kind of way for those who dont know how to use the FMB to be able to use the map.

You've obviously never been involved in map making. The making of cities and airfields is the most time consuming work you could ever imagine. I'm pretty sure that the images posted here are over populated or from test missions from the above mentioned campaigns most likely in the works. And if you know any of these guys who are working on this map, or any map maker that is worth their salt, putting out an unfinished product is not something they are interested in doing.

I'm certain that if we are all just patient for this that we wont be let down.

if he also knew anything about mapmaking, he'd know that any change to the static.ini, of which there would be, by just the adding of one object, will result in all campaigns with any destroyed objects via the fmb destroy brush, not to work, making it pretty pointless to release before its ready.

The 352nd Virtual Fighter Group has been quiet on these boards, but not quiet on Cross Channel Map development. The 1940 Battle of Britain version of the CCM is nearly completed. All the airfields are finalized (that means frozen in development). Final map textures are being adjusted and edited. Cities are being populated, shorelines double, triple, and quadruple checked, and generally we are at the final editing stages.

We've been working on this map for over two years; map-making techniques and knowledge have advanced more rapidly than our efforts, we no sooner get an airfield finished than we see a "mod" that makes a lot of what we did either unnecessary or too "object intensive". The map is so large and has so many objects on it (there are almost 100 airfields) that we are concerned that, for less powerful systems, it might be "too much". Consequently we have sparsely populated cities and villages (the latter are almost solely ground textures) presuming that mission and campaign makers will populate those cities and other areas needed for their missions.

The map is very close to release. Read more and follow the latest details at the 352nd Virtual Fighter Group forums (link in my signature).

Persecutor, given the quality of your map, have you spent a thought on contacting Team Daidalos for your map's implementation in a future patch?

    THAT would be really cool

Good morning, and Happy Holidays to all.

A new "revision" or "update" to the CCM is now available; the current version is 1.4.1. A myriad of small issues have been addressed and corrected, some texture issues resolved, some airfields flattened and smoothed, and the like. No major changes; any mission or campaign built on the original version should work as designed. No new objects have been added to the map. Many of the issues caused by the simultaneous release of the map by both the 352nd VFG and the Ultra-Pak folks, who were a great help, have been resolved.

The new version may be downloaded from the 352nd Virtual Fighter Group site; link in my signature.

An "add-on" version will be released shortly which will include Bodney, for those who might want it.
You can find it at the 352nd's website in their downloads section.
