If the British SAS took on the Ghosts and they both had the same equipment who do you think whould win and why?

In my opinion if it was urban combat the Ghosts would have the upper hand, but if it was in a building or jungle enviornment, the SAS would win.

You can read about something similar that actually happened in the Invasion of the Falkland Islands by the Brits back in the day. There was an encounter between SAS and the Special Forces of Argentina( Unit 671?), trained buy the US Special Forces. I think it was called Goose Green or something, it was a fight over a top of a mountain, real nasty stuff, a good read. google it. I bet Cobblers knows

Which Ghosts? The original "Ghost" ghosts, or this new guy "Scott" lol?

The real ghosts (OGR) would give a run for the money, depending on environment, but the new so called ghosts would be wiped out.
All their star trek equipment would short out in the rain and they'd be overwhelmed by an enemy (SAS) they never even see.

The hostages were Canadian and British, which is likely the primary reason the SAS were given the lead role in the raid (although Canadian and American forces were involved as well, and it was American forces that made the arrest that led to the confirmation of the hostages' location).

If the hostages were American, you can be assured the lead role would have been taken by Delta Force.

Delta Force and the SAS are extremely similar forces. Delta Force was directly based on the SAS and they train and operate together frequently.

The SAS was the original and have as proud a tradition as any SOF in the world. They get props for that. However, Delta Force is significantly better funded and get tasked with the lead role in the lion's share of the most vital special operations these days (with the US govt. leading the charge).

And while historically Delta Force has followed the SAS's path, the opposite seems to be taking place now with the British Army reorganizing their special forces to more closely resemble the US's Delta/Ranger/ISA (or whatever its codename is these days) arrangement.

The Ghosts don't exist. While they're supposedly Army Special Forces, they're a lot more like a Delta Force team (mission types, four-man patrol teams, priority, etc.).

I think the SAS would prevail

Due to their training and experience, I suppose the Ghosts are based on the Delta Force, Tom Clancy just thought 'Ghost Recon' sounded cooler.

Not to be off topic but Sam Fisher would dominate both.

@ Yen Lo - Actually, you are right, I do not a little something about this event.

Although you can find out more about it by clicking HERE!!!

There was a documentary about this event which makes events on that day a little uncertain from what I remember. (Could very well be wrong though) Lieutenant Colonel H. Jones, although in the above link is basically highly praised, jeez, he did give his life to win that fight, but he wasn't much of a leader if I remember and were he to have done things differently then the result could have been over sooner.....again, late night documentary, so could be wrong.

Either way, the Brits won and Maggie looked great....all be it some of the horror stories, like not enough Battle cruisers to transport troops etc.....sounds very much like todays scenario tbh.

Pepsifreak is right, sam would just whipe tham all out one by one while every single one of the troopers thinks his teammate was killed by the enemy, and that's if he ever find him, b4 he get's his *** whiped out too of course.

I think that, for the looks of it, the original Ghosts would be a tough fight, I mean, Green Berets, with lot's of battle experience, the best of the best, a team of not so many chosen one's...it's not like SAS or Deltas, it's the top Elite and I don't think they'd be able to put them down hehe.

I actually like the "new" ghosts more or however you call them, but ghosts or not the only real ghost in here is sam fisher, with or without the greenie goggles hehe
