The main station aimed at U-boat crews was "Atlantiksender", while there was a more general broadcast called "Soldatensender". There's info about the newspaper you correctly mentioned too. Interesting stuff (if not the slickest website).

Catapult Aircraft Merchantman
It was a mechant ship equipped with a rocket catapult and one Hawker Hurricane fighter.
A emergency solution as not enough aircraft carriers were available to guard all of the convoys.
Its purpose was to attack Focke Condor recon planes. Afterwards the pilot tried to reach land when possible or simply bail out and let the plane crash into the sea.
