Raised in Chicago, U 505 was a second home to me. Visit Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago for infoon the new room and rehab. Also visited USS Cod (Cleaveland,OH) USS Silversides (Muskegon, MI) Well kept and impressive.

This was discussed in our local paper(evening mail)late last year.Nothing has been heard of since but i would love a historic attraction like u-534 to stay in the northwest.Theres was a campaign to try to bring a sub from canada to form a submarine museum here, but They could not get the funding to transport her to england.

I heard that the city Plymouth has great interest in buying the HMS Plymouth from Birkenhead.

This is as far as i know the only ship from Birkhead that already has a safe future by now.

Celeon still wants U-534 for the Kriegsmarine memorial at Laboe. It would look great at the side of U-995

Yeah I'd love to know if the rumours are true.

I'm not running the campaign, just helping to make people aware of it. I have sent an e-mail to the guy who is running the campaign to see if he has any news, but have not heard anything yet.

I'm all in favour of U-534 moving to Barrow-in-Furness if she can't stay in Merseyside. Barrow is only 2 hrs from where I live (Manchester), so it would be easy for me to visit her again

I agree that Laboe would also be a good home for U-534. It would be amazing to see the well-preserved U-995 VIIC/41 next to the rusted wreck of the larger U-534 IXC/40.
