I enter from the convoy's starbord front corner.

I kill the largest ships first and any other targets big or small that happen to be easy targets of oppertunity.

I almost never sink the escorts.

However sometimes the escortes line themselves up so well that I can't help taking a pot shot. Just this patrol a Tribal DD (1850 tons - almost as big as a coastal merchant but twice the renown.) was in the lead of the convoy. This tribal had just finnished its zig-zag-return-pause a few minutes ago and has started its convoy speed run just ahead of the convoy. Just 1000 meters away in 5m/s weather.

It was just too tempting so I took it out.

I look at my attack as lunch!
I go for the big cargos as meat and potatoes and see the tankers, if I can get any as desert.
The escorts? I see those as truffels on my scrambled eggs the next morning.
    KUrtz.

    I voted for option 4.

I like to get in close and murder them, big targets first - I like to go for the tonnage, besides Doentiz keeps banging on about tonnage war so I have to follow orders

I chose option 2 - "Go for the biggest merchants and hope to evade the escorts" because that's what I prefer to do - but it all depends on the visibility conditions. Option 2 if visibility is good, option 4 if it's bad.

    Same as viking.

I had a cool story here somewhere on this site of an attack i did in bad weather on the surface. It was the most fun i have had in this game EVER. I will have a search for it when i get back caus i had put pictures up also.

Off to play football now though.

It depends on the time of day(or night). During the day I get in submerged and attack with all tubes. At night I attack the outermost coulem.

Yeah, it would have to be number 2, and like VG said, if the weathers good it's a bonus.

OPtion 1 early in the war, I've enjoyed quite a few gunfights with Flowers/Armed Trawlers then roamed the convoy at will using remaining ordnance to amass as much tonnage as possible - best result so far 12 merchants and 3 escorts in one convoy mid 1940 in BF14. Later in the war stay submerged, try to pick off larger vessels after disabling escorts - Black Swans and Destroyers seem to run away after a hit - you do needs spheroids of steel to do much on the surface though with limping escots in the vicinity
