"Very cool screenshots, it's too bad that none of those are showing the true beauty of FSX's bare terrain from low altitude!"
You know that there are tonnes of add-on packages out the that significantly increase the mesh complexity and texture resolution of FSX. If users can generate those types of add-on packages, Maddox should be able to do it at the source. It would be nice if users could do that for IL2/PF/BoB as well, but we all know how easy that is.
"Ok. So if it is, then that's ok, but before we know it you have already decided that it is going to suck, that it will run on a P3 1Ghz and that the graphics are going to be just as simple as IL2. Ok! Got it at last!"
I have not decided to it is going to "suck" at all. I've just made some pre-judgements and opinions based on what I have been shown so far, what else am I supposed to base my opinions on? Someone saying "oh, just trust us! It's gonna be great!". Uh, no. Show me that it will. It's been in development for years and its release is supposedly just around the corner. Surely to goodness there has been some progress in the last YEAR, no? In the absence of current visuals I can only formulate an opinion on what has been released.
MrVH
Sure there are, but why not be fair and apply that same reasoning with MS? If users can generate those types of add-on packages, Microsoft should be able to do it at the source. Yet that isn't the case. If the comparision was between FSX and THAT single screenshot from Sow terrain example, addons should be excluded IMO.Originally posted by MrVH:

Maybe users will be able to create their own addons for terrain instead, who knows...
Perfectly reasonable. That's my position too, although a bit more optimisticI have not decided to it is going to "suck" at all. I've checked all the info available I could find(screenshots, videos, etc) and then I've guessed what COULD be packaged in SoW. How it will look we will have to wait and see, the "tech" though doesn't look obsolete at all.
Reviving an old thread about BOB visual/graphical quality because of some screens released for a new UBISOFT game coming out called Tom Clancy's H.A.W.X . Now, granted, the gameplay will most likely not be up to us hard core simulation standards, but just look at the visuals. Now, if this game can be this beautiful then there is absolutely no reason why BOB can't be like this. Look at the terrain in these beauts:

MrVH
Looks very nice indeed, is there a video clip available anywhere of this game?
I find it hard to believe it looks that good without some "tinkering" involved![]()
Would love to see a video of it in action which would happily prove me sceptic mind wrong
btw, I totally agree that if this game can look this good then I'll be expecting this from "Storm of War" as well.
EDIT:
Found THIS video - not sure how much of it is "in game" if any but it looks nice none the less.
Amazing video! But how much is in-game and how much is CGI cut scenes? Looks like a mix of both to me.
One of my pet hates - game trailers that don't show the actual game and don't even have the rider 'not actual game footage' on it
..oh, and ta for the info MrVH. BoB will be looking good be sure. How good I don't know. But did you see what 505 Games did with the IL2 engine for consoles!? If this can be done with the old IL2 engine, I have high hopes for BoB:SoW.
This IS ingame footage:

Hi MrVH
I didn't saw your post back then about pretty much the same wish and dream for visual quality in new hopefully upcoming sim .
Quite frankly I would expect at this point after now really long waiting to have these stunning visuals quality in sim like in pictures you posted from Crysis .
Maybe some of you want to read what others has to say about it in General Discussion forum topic from December 01 2007 .
