The CVs are rather a joke to sink. They need fixing, IMO. at most 2 fish in my experience. 1 MOT almost always works though (which is pretty lame).

I'm not that good. I said 2 fish sometimes because I remember it happening at least once. The vast majority of the time CVs sink in exactly the same way. 1 torpedo hits the middle (MOT +- 250 feet or so, lol), the CV rolls over and sinks.
There is no sinking variability at all compared to other ships in SH4. Others split, they go down at the bow, they capsize. Tons of variability in most ships. Hiryu and Shokaku almost always sink exactly the same way in game (I say "almost" because I assume another way is possible even if I have never seen it).
Turns out many of the models have the flooding compartments in wrong---even bizarre---places (werner sobe is redoing all of them, talk about tedious, he said 6 HOURS per model). This contributes to odd behavior like some ships being very hard to sink, and others exhibiting odd behaviors. I am will to bet that the capsizing CVs is oddly placed flooding compartments.

lolyea im doing the CVs atm. You wont believe it. All CVs in stock were using the properties of medium merchants. There is a lot of changes to their compartments required too.
