    Hello,
Thank you for this great introductory-help. It explains much that the "manual" does not.
I only wondered about two thins.
1.) I do not have the engine - telegraph - I can not choose the number of knots I would like to travel. I can only tell my sub to go ahead 1/3, 2/3, standard, full and / or flank. The speeds result of wind, waves and also motivation of the staff in the engine room (I think there is an impact if you go on standard mode or on battle mode)

2.) the icons with the hook for the bases look different in my sh4 version. I do not have the square around

3.) - sorry, there is also a third concern: Regarding refitting the torpedos - I have not tried out but I doubt that this will work on my version. SH4 doesn't ask to refit the torps, so why should the stupid program do so? I will, however, try out.

Is there any hint on how to move across inside your sub? The viewpoint from the bridge watch is very bad, I can not see anything from 140 - 240??

Sorry, I should stop now, I have still too many questions ;-)

Don't worry about your first question, you do have to option of selecting the amount of knots you'd like to travel, if you go to the dial with the 1/3, 2/3, standard, full and flank, look directly under the dial. You should see a grey tab, if you clock it you can switch to the knot meter, same goes for the other dials.

As dor the icons with the anchor, the refit ports are shown with the Dark anchor that's sitting up right, your home port is the anchor with the tilted anchor and the nuice around it.

The refit is automatic, you just heed to get close to the refit ports (the once with an anchor on it) or your home port (the one with the tilted anchor and nuice around it), once close enough to a port, the option of refit pop's up automaticly. You only need to click the refit option. One note to the refit, if you have completely run out of torpedoes, after your refit, go to the torpedo management screen. You have to load up all of your tubes first, just drag a torpedo out of stock and into the empty rectangle. After doing so, click on the anchor in your upper righthand corner of the screen and perss it, than you have to select the refit option once more to load up the empty spaces created by loading up the stock torpedoes in your tubes. It's a bug that unfortunatly has never been atendet to,....

As for the view on the bridge, if you want to look behing you go to the binoculars, that way you can look behind you. Other than that, there is no way to do this without a mod.

Just wanted to add that I had to check back here to remind myself of a few finer details whilst on a patrol - credit to all contributors of this guide - great work!

Awesome work tambor and everyone. This really didn't help me due to the fact that I'm very familiar with the sub since I have played from SH2 and up...But, this is a great help I am sure to others who aren't as lucky. Keep up the great work everyone! (PS. Wish I could add something to this guide, but everyone's already done such a wonderful job I've got nothing to contribute currently.)

After a supply drop I've seen the raft sink once and float off empty another time. Is it possible to pick up the raft special ops crew? If so, how?

One more question: I guess all our subs have two screws. My rudder has been completely blown off twice, leaving me with no means to change course, even by altering prop speed/direction. Damage control doesn't seem to be able to "MacGyver" a new rudder, and I can't see how to control the props independently. Any ideas?

    Regarding your questions

#1. As near as I can figure, you get credit for completing your supply/agent drop as soon as the raft is launched. Even if they never make it to the beach, your job is done at that point.

#2. Yes it would be nice if you could steer with the screws, but you can't regulate the individual shafts so you are basically stuck going in the direction you are pointing if you lose the rudder.

Thanks vietvettwo. Here's hoping the patch elves will either make the screws independent, or make it so you can't drop the rudder!

I still hate the idea of leaving the raft guys behind. If they'd just go away it would be easier to take.

    Hello,
thanks for your help. After installing all 4 patches sh4 works now as you say, also the torpedo refilling works.
