I had that mission in the slot and the downed airmen didn't appear until after dark. It seems that they deploy you to be there in advance of a major air offensive, so be patient, if your there when they say to be there, then they should appear. I'd give it at least a few days.

In the game press "N" and search for the ship type. It has all the relevant information

Hello richboro,
There are Draft charts in PDF for SH4 I made, if that is what you mean. The chart shows the type of ship, it's draft, it's tonnage and how it ranks in tonnage with other ships.
If you click on Draft Charts link below my signature it will take you to that main post.

Thanks Yooperbacker,
Those are some cool charts
Thank you for the hard work
I know that my memory is very faulty but I tremember that I was having trouble when firing torps at Battleships and Carriers and that I read in the guide that those class of ships had to have the torps fired lower than the default depth (30 feet below the water surface is sticking in my head) to get below the plating on the B'ship or Carrier
I tried it and it worked I thought
But, I've also proven to myself that my memory can fool me
Am I correct about the guide showing these different depths at which the torps should be fired?

With all the different discussions on this forum and over at subsims I am sure there was a guide like you remember. I just don't remember it.

Yooperbacker,
My wonderful wife has found my guide
What is in the guide fits right in with your research.
The following is from page 72 under Torpedo Running Depth
This should be set in close relation to the desired detonation method (see below). For magnetic detonations, the torpedo should pass directly under the target's keel. In this case, take the draft entry in the Recognition Manual and add 3 to 5 feet. Keep in mind that large waves may cause a ships draft to vary quite a bit, and too great a distance may lead to the detonator not sensing the ships magnetic field.
When using an impact detonator, the torpedo should be set to hit the target under the protective armored belt. In the absence of specific information about your target's protection, the following settings should be used.
Battleships 20 feet
Heavy Cruisers, Carriers, Large Merchants 12 feet
Light Cruisers, Small Merchants, Submarines 10 feet
Destroyers 6 feet
