I agree completely. But I'm a little confused about something... If liberalism is the problem, then how exactly would you explain that the federal government expanded more under Bush than at any other time than the Great Depression?

By the way, I'm very flattered that you registered simply to send me that very insightful and polite PM.

Leit and I both have similar roots in that liberal bastion, UC Berkeley, but I have taken a bit of an opposite tack. I was fairly conservative as a young man. While at Berkeley I was disgusted by a lot of what I saw, especially the racial engineering in the form of affirmative action. As I've gotten older I've drifted further and further to the left. My drift to the left has been further pushed by the Religious Right hijacking the Republican party. What's an agnostic-atheist libertarian to do?

Probably a drift to the more practical and sensible ideas of life.

BTW I have watched the average in this country shift ever towards corporate and wall street control whether the people making the shift know it or not, like sheep herded into the pen. Make things bad enough, throw in some scare and the sheep will move. Next thing you know your privacy isn't, your rights aren't and the answer is to let Big Business have their way (have to get rid of those government regulations, especially the EPA) so they can 'fix' everything.

I call it a steady move towards fascism. That's how it was done in Europe including the witch hunts and 'solutions'. We're just not to the tipping point yet but the direction of the push is the very same. Heil Palin!

Hard words... though they do not bring hope, i wish i could write them as beautifully as you did.

I always wondered how a people in a great country such as the USA, in which the culture values privacy, Rights, and individualism, could turned into sheep? There must be good reasons for this...

Maybe it is this shift, i too can observe, in almost all "advanced" countries, from a People to sheep, that makes "democracy" so desirable for all those who make its promotion nowadays ...

Maybe you should accept that you are like the last dinosaurs, and prepare to face the "wonderful future" that is to come: no elections or biased ones, no privacy, no rights... (just joking, at least it is what i sometimes tell myself here in Europe).

Yeah, Heil Palin! But then also Heil Berlusconi, Sarrazin, Sarkozy, Blair, ...and all those genuine politicians that have no fix, no will to recognize and change the situation but who have good friends in the Big Business!

Alas, you're definitely right, it is a steady move towards fascism.
