I'm really sorry GTA. Most amiss of me. I've always admired your neutral yet so interesting posts on this forum.
You have a knack of not sounding as if you are in partnership with others on a political mission here.
And your willingness not to attack posters who you don't agree with is so very obvious and also pleasing to the eye.
Sorry, I've forgotten what you just said.
Best Regards,

A rather ironic statement coming from the person that less than a week ago claimed that liberals needed "mass reeducation."Originally posted by GoToAway:

The Sovs were the past masters of committing dissident intellectuals to mental institutions.
You try hard to sound intelligent by going out of your way to be verbose. However, you are clearly absolutely terrified of debate because you never are willing to discuss or defend anything you've said. You are interested in pontification in lieu of discussion. A true intellectual wouldn't be terrified of two-way communication.

And you're a liar.
You twisted leit's words into something else, and claimed he meant something defined by you.

A strawman, no different than any other of your baseless accusations on this forum that you frequently make GTA.Leit has deemed that a sizable portion of this country (50%, or basically everyone that disagrees with right-wing theocratic politics) is "rotten" and needs to be "reformed."
Now, where have I heard that before...
I can't remember.
For some reason I keep thinking of a bunch of guys in brown shirts that started putting "undesirables" into "reeducation" camps.
Ring any bells?
In all honesty, leit, you really should be ashamed that, not only do you have such horrific thoughts bouncing around in your head, but you have the audacity to publicly state them in this day and age. That is an awfully slippery slope you're standing on, leit, and for somebody that claims to be so well versed in history, I'd like to think that you know where it leads.
And you're a child.Originally posted by Cajun76:

I don't know. It's very difficult to ascertain exactly what he means when he refuses to ever explain himself. You twisted leit's words into something else, and claimed he meant something defined by you.
I'm not sure how else you're supposed to interpret a statement that says that a huge portion of the population needs to be "reformed."
Honestly, the only other person that has expressed views like that is you, so it's not surprising you'd come to his defense.
You use that word an awful lot. You should probably learn what it means.A strawman

If conservatism is proportionate to intellect, then why are the places with the highest concentration of intellectuals overwhelmingly liberal?
I'm sure the right wing answer includes the word "indoctrination" and possibly "conspiracy."
I don't buy into the nonsense about politics having any influence on intellect , but this is just one of the many (extraordinary stupid) ploys people seem to employ to justify "their" beliefs as superior.Do you need the link this time, or are you satisfied that your "(extraordinary stupid) ploy" is sufficiently exposed?Originally posted by GoToAway:

You like to make accusations, but rarely (if ever) back them up. Something about not having enough time...
Perhaps if you slowed down and didn't make so many baseless accusations, you'd have more time to be honest and accurate and less hypocritical?
Leitmotiv is on ignore.
Cajun76 is on ignore.
Basically, right-wing US 'politics' is on ignore, on the basis that that its proponents are incapable of rational dialogue.
Many of the posters on this forum would do well to read a little about psychological projection, and then consider whether they are actually writing about themselves.
Ah, and making up stuff and filling in the blanks with your own ignorance is far better?I don't know. It's very difficult to ascertain exactly what he means when he refuses to ever explain himself.
Thank you Andy, the link is sorely needed by GTA and others. I know you won't see this because your head is in the sand, but it's the thought that counts.![]()
I've always thought that the idea of projection is a total load of ********.
For example lets take someone who has thought about cheating but has always had the decency not to do it. Now lets say they get jelous of their partner and accuse them of cheating perhaps even for inconclusive reasons.
Now is this projecting or is it simply that deep down most humans are actually the same, it's just that some people have more impulse control than others.
All of us have probably been so angry at one point where you've said something along the lines of "I'm so angry I could kill that person". Well the only difference between you and a person that goes on a killing spree is impulse control. I can guarantee 9 times out of 10 people who are criminals are criminals because they lack impulse control, except in the case of psychopaths they are not fundementally different than you or I.
The only time I think projection has some sort of merit is when people use the fact that others are probably thinking exactly the same as them (aka Cheating) to excuse their own actions. However is that actually pathological or a conscious decision on the part of ones morality. Who's to say a kid who goes nuts and shoots up a college because he's been bullied all his life is abnormal, it could be a perfectly normal response to abnormal amounts of stress.
