    All the Subs had Depth finding equipment, which is an active ping.

    When you ask your navigation officer what is the depht under the kiel, he use the Echolot wich is an active sonar sending a ping to measure the distance between your sub and the bottom of the see.

    Active sonar existe since WW1, Paul Langévin, a French ingenior build it in 1915.

    Its the reason why I wrote active sonar to TRACK target !
    And of course, willpower is enough for sure
    but it is just a matter of accuracy...

    Active Sonar and Distance-Via-Ping are two very different things, are they not?

    So using the distance to target function would be the latter right?

    What's the difference between distance and exact distance. 1 ping vs 3 pings?
