    I had this photo emailed to me in a collection, but no commentary attached. I've never seen this picture so I have no clue which sub this is or how it was damaged. Anybody got any info on this? Please share.

    Looks like a LA class, and that's one mean bump it has

    Magnifying the pic, the outer casing in front, looks pushed in and out to the left, and there's a bulge round where the 'docky' is standing.
    I'd say this sub rammed or collided (on portside) something at speed. It must have been a surface collision else it would have sunk (or the crew were A1 on disaster reponse)

    Yeah, it looks like they were carting municipal waste to a landfill and hit something on the way.

    Either way, I think the crew deserve commendations for surviving that 'disaster'. I'd say that sub is now a worthless shell except for the salvagable systems on board.

    No a real large chunk of rock stiking up from teh ocean floor. Also know as a sea mount. I beleive it happened in teh south pacific...i will check into it.
