I was flying an offline night bombing mission in a (mod)Tupolev SB2 1938 bomber running at 350kmh at 850m at 90% throttle for most of the (night) mission .I ran out of fuel after I reckon hardly 1000km and definitely under 1200km.Hardballs Viewer quotes 1800km range and some sources even more .
What throttle, alt and prop pitch would give the quoted range for most planes? Is Olegs fuel mpg/litres per KM fairly on the ball if you fly correctly?
Betty bomber has longest range in game at 6000km while the (also flyable modded)Catalina flying boat does just under 5000km.At that rate you could be in the air literally all day !!! I also noted that the SB2 (with Pe2 cockpit) has the classic fuel tank gauge that hardly moves and then drops like a rock for the second half!

On a lot of these the tank level gage is only for one tank IRL.

Economy cruise is usually down around 60% power. It may be more or less, sometimes you want more speed with less range anyway.
Prop pitch should be around the same but spend some time in QM with no enemy and find the best speed pitch to match.
350kph is *not* economy for any of these bombers!

Also 850m is hardly altitude for maximum range in any plane. The higher you fly, the less drag is working against your plane and you always get better range higher up.

Both SB2 models have best performance at 4000m. I think that's where you'll get the best range out of it.

Actually the H8K "Emily" and the B-29 should have the best range in the game.

I don't think any aircraft in the sim can match it's real world range.

What about the FW-200 condor? It was supposed to be amazing the distances into the atlantic it could cover.

That may have been an echo friendly, hybrid 109.

Have designed Ju88 missions to last 2 hours. Easily achievable on some of the larger MTO-scale maps. However what about managing fuel tanks? surely that's got to change CoG and therefore power settings?

I saw one flying on one of the popular open-pit servers a couple months ago, forgot which one.
