Yep that is right. The even tcamera can be one of the most heart sinking applictions silent hunter has.

You line up your target. let loose torp at around 800m range. Torp impact is close to 90 degrees on target ship. All should be great.

So i sit there and wathc my beautiful torp running through the water. The hull of the ship now comes into view. As it closes i see that the torp is going to hit. A sit there figiting with glee at the carnage to unfold........when.......

**** ! it hits the hull and falls to the ocean bottom.

And to cap it off. 5 seconds later, my sonarman casualy says...... "torpedo missed sir"

If only i had a side arm on the bridge!!!!!

Yeah, the torpedo was a dud. Just feels the Weapons officer / sonar man seems to run my nose in it after i see it boince off the hull with the event camera.

First off Bogus, you didn't say what year your patrol was in. Early in the war duds were more common, so that could be a reason. And if you have Duds checked in your Realism setting you can/will have more duds until the later years. It's just a part of the realism SHIII has.

I think you seem to miss the point of my post. I am not complaining about anything. I was just saying how funny it was when i can see the torpedo is a dud from the event camera and i go D'oh when it misses.
Then the Sonar man tops it all off when he says "Torpedo missed sir"

And i am left thinking, "well no sh1t sherlock, thanks for your valuable imput".

Was just supposed to be a funny.

Gotta love it when people misunderstand the post and try to give helpful feedback. Funny stuff! I sometimes wish I could kill my sonarman for several reasons.... so what I do is surface and put him on the AA guns (I play in 1944 right now.. LOT of planes)

One time 1st patrol of the war I fire i fish at 800m and 400m down range it blows up,and only after 10 sec after it should of hit. my wep or sonar ofcer says torpedo mised sir!

Your sonar man or watch officer detects ships, duh.
