In SH2 this was modelled - why not in SH3?

It seems not...unfortunately, it was a cool feature. Maybe in future patches?

Is it true??? Iâ´ve been over 29 patrols in my 1st campaign and now 19 in my 2nd, and still never seen the overheating!

Do they overheat if they have plenty of access to sea water? I am still a newbie and dont know, but if a pump or somehting breaks the cooling then ofcourse ...... As with the sighting equip in this game and engine that overheats when run on full power is a real bad design.

For example, aircraft is more complex, wrong altitude worng mixture, and flying where the props dont have enough grip forcing the captain to max out the engines to keep altitude sounds more reasonable for overheat on aircooled engines.

A sub, in water where it is supposed to be, did the german really make such a math error.

    But we're talking about flank.

Flank which is higher up than full.

Full is full because that's your full speed. But flank goes as fast as possible in an emergency or what have you, but can cause damage to the engine. Full is the top speed for most purposes.

I've never seen it. I head home all the time at flank. Nothing ever happens. Shame.

With correct design, the engines shouldn't overheat. Wear and tear will increase geometrically though which of course isn't modelled (surprisingly), since this is one sim where they could have done it because we live with one boat for a while. Any damage however, and the possibility of overheating would exist, whether the damage was to the cooling system itself, or mechanical damage resulting in localised friction.

So, a new boat should be capable of flank the whole day, but any age or damage should possibly limit that.

ANY boat should be able to run on Flank speed all day since apparently they replaced the engines when you docked. Slice the boat in two, and remove the diesels.
