Hey all . . . some things in HL2 remind me a lot of the Alien movies, mostly little sound effects here and there. And Father Grigory reminds me of Dillon from Alien3 a bit, too.

    Anyone else?

cuase it's all a conspiracy!!!! Though honestly, the one thing I've seen rip stuff from EVERYWHERE is the Matrix... EVERY idea is unoriginal, well, maybe bullet time, but I may be wrong... The two ripped off of so many old books, animé, and movies that I have come to love (i'm a cyberpunk freak in fiction, I should know)

Throughout Alien 1 and BLade Runner there's a background sound of air being recurculated. The sound effect shows up once more in Empire Strikes back when Luke is trying to find Darth Vader just before his hand gets cut off. Very odd concidering all other effects in the Star Wars movies are original. Guess it's a nod to Ridley Scott.

Now that you mention it Half-Life's are kinda similar in their chirpyness, but not so close that I couldn't rule out coincidence.

Frog: they didn't try to deny that the Matrix is a cyberpunk movie with heavy eastern anime and philiosophical influences (but there's just as much Western stuff in there both religious and movie). There's a short scene in the original that's identical to a Ghost in the Shell scene. When it's that blatant it's a homage not a rip off. The deal with the Matrix is it's live but at times has the same effects only achievable in anime.

It's like what Michael Cretue from Enigma did with his first album. Blended music from all different cultures together really well into one album. The Matrix is a blend of different genres done really well (well plot wise is a different story after the first movie, but I blame the evil influences of Warner Brothers who never know how to properly handel a franchise after the original movie).

Heck Star Wars is a blend of westerns, samurai movies and fantasy with just a pinch of sci-fi to wrap it all together (space ships flying like WWII fighters is not science).

lol, after seeing movies like blade runner, readin books like neuromancer (wicked book by wicked canadian author, considering the father of cyberpunk), and watching animé like GitS ('ve seen all eps from every series, and both vids), the links are more than obvious...

OMFG!!!!! corny and suck? what animé have you seen? Ever see any qualit animé? A normal animé series is only 26 episodes, oly the kiddy commercialized ones go for multi seasons... which is what i'm sure u are thinking about (ie dragnball, sailor moon, those do suck) and the movies are on soime of the biggest budgets ever... have you seen ghost in the shell 2: innocence? AMAZING graphics, and the story lines of lots of hi quality animé beats all this gerneric **** coming out of holywood... please humour me, and list what you classify as animé

sure....to me all anime is stupid. like what ku said, if ya want to see a real movie dont go see anime. and also all anime to me is all japanese made and that is why it is ****. i mean the translations are horrible, the lip synching is terrible and the stories do suck. they are all future tense and have no plot what so ever.

    Akira
    Fooly Cooly

Don't suck, not even a little. Not even if you wish with all your might.
