Vallejos go on very wet, I am used to fast-drying paints. I ended up with ridges (already sanded off with 1500 grade in photo) where the paint met the Silly Putty due to my (stupidly) not maintaining a 90 degree angle between air brush and Silly Putty masks. Have to sand off the faded Dark Earth and do it over.
Any expert advice on how to overcome the wetness matter?

I always have trouble spraying Vallejo and to a lesser extent Color of Eagles (Aircraft Colors). When thinned with water or alcohol they seem to break up in the spray cup. Spraying results in paint that is either too thin or too dry which causes spitting. The colors are fantastic but they are so much toruble that I only use them for cockpit painting. I would thin the paint just enough to keep the brush from spitting and then spray light coats only. Allow time for drying between each coat. Clear the needle on your airbrush between each spray session to avoid spitting. Also use a higher pressure than normal. Just don't go too high or you will end up with the dreaded fuzzies. Do some testing on a piece of scrap to see what works for you. Also make sure your airbrush is completely clean when switching colors as Vallejo and Color of Eagles (Aircraft Colors) seem to clot up the needle and orfice easily. This is my experience with those brands. I use Model Master-Floquil-or Polly Scale with zero problems. These brands made spraying my 109 a breeze. Another brand I recommend is Mister Kit and Gunze if you can find them that is. The blasted EPA is what's keeping US modelers from getting Gunze due to labeling and Mister Kit is just hard to find.

I have found the same to be true, but not much spatter trouble as long as my Iwata is kept clean. I might have to return to Model Master Acrylics, but this will be sinus death. Marcus Nicholls of TAMIYA MODEL MAG uses Vallejos with great success---so I am missing something. I think I'll have to resort to misting the paint over masks to avoid pooling. Means a very long, tedious process.

Superb Beaufighter Buglord!
I'm amazed at how much character you got out of that dark color especially in regards to the panels. That's very hard to do and you executed it perfectly. Outstanding mate!
