maybe its the weather
or maybe its because of the horrible paranoid atmosphere that seems to have descended on Britain since 2001
most likely both
People have been leaving these shores in droves, (and arriving in droves) for centuries. I sometimes think it's in our blood, I've lived in 5 different countries so far, and spent a very long time in a sixth and one things for sure, no matter how far off the beaten track you go you'll always find a sunburnt Brit.
Maybe. The recent boom in chavs has certainly put me off.Originally posted by Hoenire:
Nope, its because of the government and immigration - 60 million people on a tiny island without tough enough immigration laws or a government with any ideas about protecting it's citizens.
I would jump if I could, as would most...
But all these "security" bills like ID cards and detention without trial are putting people off. That and this culture of fear. Its depressing dude, we're meant to be a democracy. Im gonna move to Canada, Austria, Denmark or Switzerland once ive finished Uni, Customs and Exercise can have fun trying to locate me.
I don't blame anyone for getting the hell out of here.
Since Labour came to power freedoms in the UK have been steadily eroded with the exception of the criminal class who can now rampage with virtual impunity thanks to the Labour introduced Human Rights Act (those who have seen my previous posts will know how,as a Police officer, I despise this catastrophically ill-thought out piece of criminal/terrorist protective garbage!!![]()
)
We also verge on rampant paranoia with so much CCtv that we are now the most closely monitored society outside of Communist China. The so called ID card fiasco is to have a chip installed to enable the Government to be able to monitor the users movements. If you are arrested for any reason then you have your photograph, fingerprints and DNA taken regardless of whether or not you are charged or released no further action. In other words, guilty or innocent then the Government has you on record.
We have the epitome of the revolving door prison system with the Governments answer to rising prison populations by releasing thousands of utter scumbags early rather than build more prisons. Murder now carries a sentence of around 15 years maximum.
In fact one piece of human garbage is being considered for release after 11 years for stabbing a headteacher to death in the schoolyard. Thanks to, you've guessed it, the Human rights Act, its been decided it would be unfair to the poor dear to deport him back to his native Italy. While the uproar over this is understandable no-one seems to be pointing out that he has only served 11 years for taking an innocent life in the most brutal and vicious fashion!!!
Gun crime is increasing at a dramatic rate despite the most draconian gun laws in the world. As the saying goes: When guns are outlawed then only outlaws will have guns!
We cannot take effective action against people known to have undertaken terrorist training because of ....altogether now...The Human Rights Act, so about 3000 dangerous individuals are allowed to roam the UK unhindered.
And on and on it goes!!!!!!!!
I envy those getting out of this bland, undemocratic, paranoid, Orwellian sh!thole!!!!!

Yes, there`s me, hating the Tories for so long, Labour get in power and it`s the same ruddy thing to my chagrin. It makes me wonder what`s the point...
You are also correct about CCTV we have more cameras monitering everything in this country than every other country in Europe! Why are the brits just accepting this?
Still, much has changed in ways we couldn`t imagine since 911...
